Harry Kane is asked about Pele falling ill and his impact on his career. Pele's advice to Kane was to never believe he's the best player in the world and to keep learning.

"First and foremost we send our best wishes to him and his family as well," said Kane.

"An inspiration among our game. He's an incredible footballer, incredible person. To hear those words back then from him was special to me, I always feel like I'm learning and he was spot on with his advice.

"We are very sad to hear news of him being ill but we wish him well."

England boss Gareth Southgate on Senegal: "We have been very impressed with Senegal. We know they are African champions and are very proud and have great spirit and belief in their team. They have some excellent individual players who can cause problems, but a good structure as well.

"Cisse has done a fantastic job. They were very unlucky to qualify from the group in Russia and they have deservedly done it this time. We know the size of the job ahead of us."

Harry Kane says his foot "feels fine" and there is "no problem at all."

The press room is filling up as everyone waits for England manager Gareth Southgate and captain Harry Kane. Southgate isn’t giving anything away with the player who will be alongside him this evening. When Henderson did the media duties before the Wales match it was a big indicator he would start. Kane is first name on the team sheet so there still aren’t any answers about who he will pick in the wide areas.

England fans have yet to see Harry Kane's name on the scoresheet in Qatar but there is no reason to panic, according Phil Foden.

"I think we need to appreciate what he does. If he’s not scoring, he’s assisting," said Foden

"Is he one of the top assiters of the tournament? It just shows he’s got everything to his game. If he’s not scoring, he’s assisting and if he’s not assisting, he’s scoring.

"He’s a great player for us, he’s a leader, he’s a captain and he’s someone we’re going to need now in the knockout stages.

"In meetings and things, he will speak up and it’s all about the team and wanting the best for the team. Like I said, he’s a great leader and always trying to help the players out. That’s the type of person he is."

Senegal's assistant head coach Regis Bogaert has been chatting to the media to give an update on the team's preparations for Sunday's game with England.

"The excitement of the game will come gradually," said Bogaert.

"The best way to prepare for this kind of meeting is to stay calm, serene and focused on the goal. And the objective is clear: to pass these round of 16.

Bogaert added that the coaching staff will be leaning on the players who have spent time in the Premier League for vital information.

He said: "England has an extremely attractive league. This experience that some of our players have of regularly playing against the players we will face tomorrow, I hope it will be useful."

I went to watch England train on Thursday and, just from the warm-up, I can smell that they are going a long way in this competition.

Seriously, though, I am confident about their chances, although I don't think Senegal will let them have this all their own way.

The African champions were pretty disappointing when they played the Dutch but, when it really mattered, they turned up against Ecuador.

England's starting XI will be interesting, and there is always a great debate about that, but I think the strength on the bench will make the difference for Gareth Southgate, whoever begins the game.

Phil Foden tells BBC Sport what he thinks his best position is for England and says he has "every chance" of starting against Senegal on Sunday.

England forward Phil Foden says his World Cup has been a "mixed bag" so far in Qatar.

Foden scored in England's 3-0 Group B win against Wales, having missed his side's goalless draw with the USA.

"It has been up and down," the Manchester City forward told BBC TV.

"[I am] disappointed not to start more games but it is part of the tournament. I am a team player and when I get the opportunities I'll take them.

"There is a lot [of competition]. [Bukayo] Saka has done well and scored in the first game, [Marcus] Rashford has scored and did very well against Wales.

"Everyone is scoring and everyone has proved a point so it will be a headache for Gareth [Southgate] to pick the team for the next game."

So far, there have been 525 additional stoppage time minutes of football at the World Cup. That's equivalent to almost six extra games. Fans are certainly getting their money's worth.

Fewer goals than the last couple of World Cups, especially in the first half

2.5 per game is the lowest in the past three World Cups, with just 36% of those coming in the first half.

Teams are taking fewer, better shots

22.3 per match, but with a best all-time World Cup conversion rate of 11.2%, although a record low 8% of goals have come from outside the box.

Teams are passing more

An average of 960 passes per game is more than any other tournament.

Based on what I've seen of them so far, if Poland get in the France half, they will be lucky. They just don't seem able to get the ball up the pitch to Robert Lewandowski, who is so isolated.

The Poles are big and slow and I think they were lucky to get out of Group C.

France can chuck in a poor performance every so often and I know this has been a World Cup of shocks so I am asking to get egg on my face... but I only see this going one way.

Poland's manager Czeslaw Michniewicz has expressed confidence in Sunday's game against France.

He has protected his decision to build a strong defence strategy within his team, saying their cautious approach had helped them advance to the last 16.

Poland have moved to the knockout stages for the first time in 36 years of the World Cup.

Michniewicz said Poland will be the "next world champions" if they beat France but he did acknowledge the strength of Kylian Mbappe, saying they will have to work as a team around him.

He said: "The ones who weren't playing defensively at the World Cup are back home watching on TV. Now we're out of the group phase, so we will change our plans.

"You win or you go home, the stakes are high. We were dreaming of getting out of the group stage, we did everything possible to achieve that."

The French boss Didier Deschamps has said he's cautious about the threat of Poland for their last-16 tie on Sunday.

Sunday will be France's last chance to get into the quarter final.

Deschamps has warned the defending champions cannot afford to become another World Cup casualty.

He said: "All the games are difficult, last night too. All the teams are good and prepared. The players all play in good leagues.

"This team (Poland) has had to defend in the first three games, defend a lot and they defend very well. They love it."

Dechamps, who won the World Cup as a player in 1998, says he's wary for the game.

Sunday's other quarter-final sees holders France face Poland.

Both managers have done their news conferences, so we'll shift our focus to that game for 10 minutes or so before returning to England.

The England captain will be answering questions along with manager Gareth Southgate at around 16:00 GMT.

England v France. It's the World Cup quarter-final everyone is talking about. Yet, there are significant hurdles to overcome first.

Both sides may face lower-ranked opposition in their last-16 ties on Sunday but this is a World Cup that has thrown up shock result after shock result. France must first overcome Poland, while England face African champions Senegal.

They may sit 13 places lower than England in the Fifa world rankings, but Senegal have a squad packed full of talent, even without injured superstar Sadio Mane.

"We know we will be favourites in terms of rankings but Senegal will be a very dangerous side," said England manager Gareth Southgate.

"We know many of their players who play in the Premier League and throughout Europe."
