We're going to be wrapping this live up in the next few minutes, but here are some videos for you to fill some time before the match starts at 19:00 GMT.

  3. 'Senegal fans rehearse every morning at 9am'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Celestine Karoney

BBC Sport Africa journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Senegalese fans are absolutely amazing. For most of these guys in that singing group, these are people who have travelled with the team, some of them even for decades. Everywhere the team goes, they go too.

Something very interesting about them is that they do rehearsals. What you see in the stadium is rehearsed. they don't just come ad beat drums, no no no. Every morning at 9am, you will find them doing rehearsals.

  4. 'We know we can do more'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

Phil Foden of England during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group B match between Wales and England at Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on November 29, 2022 in Doha, Qatar.

England's Phil Foden, speaking to the BBC, on whether he'll start v Senegal: “I think I’ve got every chance to start because I played well against Wales, but we’ll have to see what happens.”

On Senegal: “It’s a team we’ve not seen too much of but these next few days we’re going to study them and see what they’re about. Obviously we know a couple of players who we’ve all played against before.”

On penalties: “We’ve all been practising penalties after training. It’s something that the manager has spoken about us getting better at, penalty shootouts. So sometimes after training, he’ll take a few of us to go and take penalties to practice. I’ll be more than happy to take one if I’m on the pitch at the time. I’m confident.”

On England’s tournament so far: “I think it’s perfect. Finishing top of the group, there are some big teams who have already gone out so we have to be happy with ourselves and what we’ve done up to now. And, at the same time, we know we can do more.”

  5. 'We shouldn't really be switching for other people'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown

    Former England defender

It looks like England are handling the pressure fine. I wouldn't look too far forward, it is dangerous to do that.

The manager has to do that because he's got to plan. We got the final of the Euros and he's changed the system. He may well go back to that.

The only game Senegal have lost was against a back five. Gareth may have looked at that. Hopefully he's not looked at too much because I do think you can be too analytical.

It is about us and our players. We shouldn't really be switching for other people. We should be formulating and playing a system that we know all about. We see the patterns and understand the movements. Can the opposition live with us then?

  6. Where to put Foden?

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

Where would you start Phil Foden against Senegal?

Use him over on the left-hand side? Or give him free rein in the number 10 role?

Jermaine Jenas and Micah Richards discuss the possibilities Gareth Southgate has for his last-16 starting XI.

  8. 'I am worried about Senegal's game management'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Celestine Karoney

BBC Sport Africa journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Trust me, you have to believe in yourself. Game management is the thing I'm worried about for Senegal.

When they have conceded the goals in the last three games, it was in the second half, past the hour mark so that fitness and fatigue means they will have to concentrate.

The England forwards will run for 90 to 120 minutes if that's what it is but Senegal do not want to go to penalties, I can tell you this.

  9. 'England are like a family abroad at the moment'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown

    Former England defender

Gareth Southgate has got a great spirit in the England camp. It is like a family abroad at the moment. There is a lot of care for the people who haven't played and consideration. Conor Coady, for example, hasn't featured but he is doing a lot of work behind the scenes and they deserve a mention as well because they are doing a lot to support the group.

Gareth knows that and he brings that together. He has been a player and that helps him in this situation.

Tonight is about winning. The next opponent, whoever it might be, doesn't matter.

  10. Rashford 'just too good'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

"He's unstoppable," said Jermaine Jenas after Marcus Rashford's two goals against Wales in the final Group B game on Tuesday. "Too quick, too sharp, too confident. Just too good."

Could Rashford be the difference against Senegal tonight?

  11. 'England's high line will be seen as a weakness'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Celestine Karoney

BBC Sport Africa journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

England's high line will be seen as a weakness. Senegal are looking at counter attacking, that is what they are looking to do. They will be thinking about doing long balls forwards, get your three front men, get Ismaila Sarr up there and hit him.

You get one chance, you take it because they feel that is still their strongest point. Anyone who will be up front and get that diagonal pass, will get in there.

  12. 'Kane's goals will come'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown

    Former England defender

We don't need to worry about Harry Kane. He didn't score in he group stages of the Euros but scored in the knockout stages. we shouldn't worry about that, his goals will come.

He is probably itching to score.

As long as England get through he wouldn't mind, he'll be happy to win a World Cup.

Goals are like oxygen for strikers and he'll be looking to get on the scoresheet tonight.

  13. Post update

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

The Al Bayt Stadium will be starting to fill up in a few hours' time. Full commentary will be available to listen to on BBC Radio 5 Live via your DAB radio and the BBC Sounds app.

  14. 'It's good to have those type of players around the squad'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been giving his perspective on the role of a captain within the squad.

The Liverpool defender says have club skipper Jordan Henderson working alongside England captain Harry Kane is a big plus point for the rest of the team.

Steve: Henderson has to start instead of Mount. Not because he's "defensive minded", but because he's the glue. He's a smart player who switches play between defence and attack instantly.

  16. Ferdinand or Shearer - which team did you like better?

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

Earlier on, we showed you who Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer picked as their England starting XI against Senegal tonight then asked you to use the thumbs to chose your favourite.

Who came out on top between the BBC pundits? Sorry Alan.

Rio wins this one with 2,713 up thumbs thanks to his attacking trio of Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford.

    Thumbs

"I want Foden in a free role," said Ferdinand on his selection. "I want him roaming around."

Alan Shearer picked exactly the same system but placed Foden on the left, Rashford on the right and Mason Mount in the middle of the three, with 1,520 of you preferring that line-up.

    Rio Ferdinand
  17. 'I would like to see Bellingham demand the ball'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown

    Former England defender

Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham were a little bit disjointed against USA. Those two and Mason Mount didn't really stay as a group. They've got to play more as a three. It was a little bit of a lesson for us.

We need to play a little bit more football. We played into the USA's hands. That won't be something that happens again because Southgate will learn. It is about getting the right blend.

I would like to see Bellingham demand the ball and play. I didn't see that from France's Aurelien Tchouameni, who plays for Real Madrid - he should be running the show when they made changes against Tunisia. I am seeing that from Bellingham.

  18. Why Senegal have nothing to lose against England

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

In his latest World Cup column, former Tottenham and England midfielder has been explaining why he thinks Senegal are such a threat to Gareth Southgate's side...

"Senegal have some very talented players but the biggest weapon the African champions will have against England on Sunday is their mindset.

"Aliou Cisse's side are winners, and they have crossed the line twice on two huge occasions already this year.

"This team did the biggest thing they can do for their country when they beat Egypt in February to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time, and then they followed it up a few weeks later by beating the same opposition in their play-off to reach this World Cup.

"So they have a manager who is loved, and a very confident group of players."

  19. Senegal 'must be ambitious'

    England v Senegal (19:00 GMT)

Senegal celebrate a goal against Ecuador

Senegal must stick to their attacking principles to beat England in the last 16 of the World Cup, according to former international Omar Daf.

The West Africans won their first continental title in February but will come up against a side which reached the World Cup semi-finals in Russia four years ago and then finished as runners-up at the European Championship last year.

Yet Daf wants the Teranga Lions to play on the front foot despite facing attacking talents including Marcus Rashford, who has three goals in Qatar, and 2018 golden boot winner Harry Kane.

"Senegal are the African champions so we must continue to be ambitious," the 45-year-old, part of the Senegal squad which reached the last eight of the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea, told BBC Sport Africa.
