    Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Newcastle

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC One

Well Windass has nerves of steel! Lovely little ball in first time and you just felt all the way there that he was going to score. He opened his body out and he punished Newcastle.

It really is a classy finish from a player at the top of his game right now. Simple pass from Smith and Windass does the rest.

  4. 'You don't save those'published at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Newcastle

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

By the way I said in the first half that the two centre-halves lacked pace and it showed there. Josh Windass just pulls away from both of them and what a finish that is by the way. Dubravka thinks he has his angles covered but Windass bends it around him, you don't save those!

It's Josh Windass again, running through goal from Michael Smith's pass and coolly converting a finish past Martin Dubravka.

He never looked like missing and the Owls are flying into the fourth round.

Windass was barged by Lewis. Maybe a bit of gamesmanship from Sheffield Wednesday. I saw a lot of that from Newcastle to good effect recently.

Lewis: Can someone explain why Sheff W v Newcastle is being played under DIFFERENT rules versus Man U v Everton in the SAME competition…

Danny: I don't support either side, but it's not an even competition when you have VAR at some grounds and not others. Just have no VAR until the semi's and final.

Brentford's Yoane Wissa with a first-time snapshot from a tight angle just inside the penalty area. He gets loads of power on it, but not too much direction and it zooms wide.
