    Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Newcastle

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a save by Dawson! As soon as the ball ricochets you are expecting the net to bulge but it is a fantastic save with the foot from six yards.

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC One

Dawson is having a blinding game. He gets his left foot to it. It's got to be a goal there, Anderson had to finish it.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle go to the other end and nearly come up with an immediate equaliser, but Cameron Dawson makes himself big to deny Elliot Anderson from close range.

The Magpies midfielder should really score but it's a stunning stop from the Wednesday goalkeeper.

  4. Postpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Brentford 0-1 West Ham

Substitute Vitaly Janelt tries his luck from 30 yards for Brentford, but shouldn't have bothered as it's miles and miles over the top. Time running out for the Bees.

  5. 'First class'published at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Newcastle

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC One

The ball comes into the box and there is just a little touch on it. It looks offside but they won't care. Byers made that goal with his Cruyff turn and the delivery was first class.

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Newcastle

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

We never saw that coming with Newcastle starting the brighter side in the second half.

It is a lovely move by Wednesday, brilliant turn by Byers in midfield, a lovely little give and go and Windass finishes it no problem in the bottom corner.

  7. Postpublished at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Brentford 0-1 West Ham

Rico Henry tries to pull the ball back into a dangerous area for the home side, but Declan Rice, as he does so often, reads the game perfectly and is in the right place to cut out the pass.

West Ham then spring a counter-attack, but good defending from Ben Mee keeps the ball away from Jarrod Bowen.

    Josh Windass (52 mins)

    HILLSBOROUGH ERUPTS!!

Sheffield Wednesday take the lead through Josh Windass, finishing off a sweeping move from Dennis Adeniran's pass.

Windass looks offside when he converts the ball into the net but the absurdity of the rules means VAR is only in operation at Premier League grounds in the FA Cup.

    Owls fans won't care.

Goals are just raining in at Coventry!

The home side have pulled one back to make it 4-2 against Wrexham. Kasey Palmer plays a through ball to substitute Viktor Gyokeres and the Sky Blues' top scorer taps home from close range.

League Two Grimsby Town have taken the lead against League One Burton Albion thanks to midfielder Harry Clifton scoring from a deflected effort on his 200th appearance for The Mariners.

Over at Kenilworth road, Luton Town are beginning to put pressure on their Championship rivals Wigan Athletic but the scoreline remains 1-1.

A good effort, it goes about a yard or two past the post but Newcastle have started the second half brightly. Sheffield Wednesday will have to wake up.

  11. CLOSE!published at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Newcastle

    Why not have a go!

Centre-back Sven Botman takes aim from range and comes very close to opening the scoring, but his left-footed drive drifts just wide of the post.

Chris Wood is in the mood of course and he wouldn't have enjoyed not starting this game tonight.

  13. CLOSE!published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Newcastle

Delightful football once again from Newcastle, they work it well into the box and Chris Wood is looking to finish it off, but a low shot is brilliantly blocked by the sprawling Mark McGuinness.

  14. Postpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2023

Just seeing an image of Matt Ritchie's right sock and it has been shredded.

He hobbles off to the side of the pitch to see if he can continue.

  15. goal

GOAL - Brentford 0-1 West Hampublished at 79 mins

    Said Benrahma

Against his old side, Said Benrahma may well have sent West Ham through and eliminated Brentford.

It starts with a brilliantly-timed challenge from Declan Rice to win the ball. Benrahma strikes 30 yards out and at first glance it looks a wonder goal. But seeing it again, the ball is into the middle of the net and it is an effort Thomas Strakosha will be extremely disappointed to have conceded from.

Benrahma, who was with the Bees between 2018 and 2021, opts to not celebrate the goal.

It might be Ritchie's ankle, has he twisted his ankle? Certainly his lower leg. He's in a lot of pain.
