West Ham striker Michail Antonio has a shot blocked from outside the box.

The Hammers are short on striking options with Danny Ings only fit for the bench - he had been a doubt - and Gianluca Scamacca injured.

West Ham are very deep and are looking for Antonio on the out ball to hold the ball up for them and he hasn't done that. Newcastle have been really comfortable in possession.

Joe Willock whips in a lovely cross for Newcastle but Angelo Ogbonna heads it away. This Newcastle team are easy on the eye. Miguel Almiron almost controls a high ball in the box but it just runs to Lukasz Fabianski.

David Moyes will be concerned because it is one pass that splits the defence, exactly what happened for the goal. Once again, Wilson had the beating of this West Ham back four.

What a fantastic start from Newcastle, they look sharp, they look switched on. They have got one goal disallowed and scored another straight after it.

West Ham just need someone like Declan Rice to get on the ball and have a bit of controlled possession to take the sting out of the way that this Newcastle team has started.

There was a VAR check for Callum Wilson's goal, but he was well onside so there wasn't really any danger there.

That was his first goal since October.

They've scored two goals in 30 seconds! So easy for Newcastle. Very cool finish from Wilson. Antonio loses possession and it's one pass through to Wilson who strokes the ball past Fabianski.

It's amazing, it looks like West Ham were in shock from the disallowed goal.

  17. 'We have to stay confident but humble'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    FT: Brentford 3-0 Southampton

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank to BBC MOTD: "A very good performance. I try to think back during the season but this is may be our most convincing first half of the season. We had some good wins against Manchester United and Liverpool but this was more dominant on the ball and creating a lot of chances.

"It's quite incredible that we are nine games unbeaten, that is a fantastic achievement. I just said to the boys, 'well done on a complete performance in the second half'.

"But we can never take for granted that we are winning in the Premier League because it's such a relentless league. But we need to enjoy things for 24 hours, and then we move on again.

"We play Arsenal on Saturday and we are looking forward to that game.

"I think it's important that we have that confident but humble attitude where we are dreaming a bit. We need to stay humble and do the work every single week.

"We are saying we want to stay as high as possible but the minimum criteria is always to stay in the league.

"But we want to end as high as possible so let's see how high that is."

  18. 'We are not in a good situation'published at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2023

    FT: Wolves 3-0 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson: "Same as the other games, we have no consistency at all through the 90 minutes, focused and doing what we have to do on the pitch fighting. First 15 minutes we started the game not in a good way and we got punished for that. Conceding two goals, we are not in a good situation. They are confident, we tried, did a good second half but conceded again. Completely frustrated.

"Looks like in the game we went two steps behind then we make one step forward, we need to do more steps because of the results. Step forward was the second half performance, two completely different sides first and second half. We have to take that for the next game and using the chances we have and stop conceding the silly goals.

"We have to think of the next games. We are not in a position to think too much about the end of the season. We have to think about what we can do now and win the next game in front of us and that's it."

Did you know Newcastle's Callum Wilson and West Ham's Michail Antonio do a BBC podcast together?

They are relishing the opportunity to play against each other - now, it's just a question of who gets to celebrate in front of who.

The two strikers were speaking about Newcastle's upcoming game with West Ham at St James' Park on the Footballer's Football podcast they host together.

Both of them, typically, are in bullish mood, despite Newcastle having the best defensive record in the Premier League.

"I think we're going to win 3-1 and I'll get two of them," said Antonio. "Your defenders haven't played anyone like me yet this season.

"I've got an actual celebration planned to do in front of you as well."

Wilson boasts a prolific record against the Hammers and is confident of adding to his nine goals in 11 games.

"I'll let you waffle on and then do my talking on the pitch," he said. "People come here nowadays and are happy with a draw but it's going to be 2-0.

"You know it, four minutes on the clock, Wilson against West Ham. I might do the Macarena.

"Get your popcorn out - it's going to be a good watch."
