    Alan Shearer

I like Kai Havertz but not as an out-and-out number nine. They have an unbelievable amount of talent but it is about getting it to gel. We will not see the best of Chelsea until next season.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until summer 2024.

The Brazil international, 38, joined the Blues from Paris St-Germain in 2020 and helped the club to Champions League success in his first full season.

He has made 106 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea and also reached two FA Cup finals and an EFL Cup final.

West Ham v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

With the players and the expectation, it is literally unmanageable. You cannot manage that many players. David Moyes is a good comparison, he always said ‘give me 10 dogs and a goalscorer’, that is all he wanted. He wants a small squad and to manage it.

  5. Head-to-head statspublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

West Ham v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

West Ham have lost four of the past five league meetings. The exception was a 3-2 victory at London Stadium last season.

It means the Hammers can earn successive Premier League home wins against Chelsea for the first time in 20 years.

Chelsea could become the first visiting team to win five matches at London Stadium in all competitions.

There have been seven winning goals scored in the final five minutes of Premier League meetings between West Ham and Chelsea.

That's more than any other fixture in the competition and including each of the last three encounters.

"The manager doesn't know his best team."

It is a regular criticism aimed at any head coach who frequently makes changes to a struggling side in search of a winning formula.

It is one Chelsea boss Graham Potter, armed with a bulging roster of high-priced talent, is likely to hear a lot unless his side put together a winning run and move up the Premier League table.

There were murmurs of it after the soulless 0-0 draw with Fulham on Friday that included five of Chelsea's new signings from the £300m-plus January spending spree that was sanctioned by the club's new owners.

    Scott Minto
Former Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC 5 live

There is some talent there and I do think when Chelsea click, and I do think they will, although top 4 may be a bit out of the equation, I can see them going on a run once Graham Potter gets his best XI.

Bournemouth could give a debut to Ukrainian centre-back Illia Zabarnyi, who joined on deadline day.

The Cherries may need to monitor Dominic Solanke and Marcus Tavernier, who have been nursing injuries.

Head coach Gary O'Neil has confirmed that goalkeeper Neto has replaced Lloyd Kelly as captain, with Adam Smith remaining vice-captain.

Alexander Isak returns for Newcastle after missing out last week because of concussion protocols.

Bruno Guimaraes serves the second game of a three-match ban, and the Magpies are without injured trio Emil Krafth, Javier Manquillo and Matt Targett.

New signing Anthony Gordon awaits his first start.

  10. 'I doubt the goals will be flying'published at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2023

West Ham v Chelsea (12:30 GMT)

Chelsea have kept clean sheets in their past three games but they also don't score many - they have only found the net once in that time.

West Ham are hardly free-scoring either so I doubt the goals will be flying in at Saturday lunchtime. Aguerd has made a big difference for them at the back after they had lots of problems in defence when he was injured at the start of the season.

Every time I write West Ham off, they get something from the game so the bad news for Hammers fans is that I am going for the points to be shared this time.

    Southampton v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

Southampton pair Kyle Walker-Peters and Stuart Armstrong are back in training after injuries but Saturday's game may come too soon for them.

Juan Larios, who has been absent since November, is also nearing a return.

Wolves will be without forward Hwang Hee-chan, who pulled his hamstring during the 3-0 win over Liverpool.

Mario Lemina hobbled off in that game and is a doubt to face his former club, while Pedro Neto could make his comeback from an ankle ligament injury.

New signing Joao Gomes might be involved for the first time but one or two other unnamed players will have their fitness assessed.

Premier League players and match officials will wear black armbands this weekend following the earthquakes that have devastated parts of Turkey and Syria.

Meanwhile, players will take the knee before the next two weekends' games to display unity against racism.

Top-flight matches between 11 and 19 February will be dedicated to the No Room for Racism campaign.

West Ham have earned four points from their last two matches, as many as they had in their previous nine.

Their point against Newcastle was particularly encouraging after a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Everton. But they still sit just a point above the relegation zone.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have gone seven successive away games without a win in all competitions for the first time in 12 years.

They haven't fared worse since a winless streak of 17 matches from April 2000 to January 2001.

They have not scored in two successive games (against Fulham and Liverpool). It means they sit ninth in the table.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur is available for the first time this season after recovering from a long-standing groin injury.

Defender Joachim Andersen is close to a return but Wilfried Zaha remains sidelined with a hamstring issue.

Brighton forward Evan Ferguson is pushing for a recall after missing the win over Bournemouth with a knee issue.

Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister returns from suspension but this game comes too soon for Adam Lallana.

On facing Chelsea: "You never know with Chelsea because they have got so many good players. It looks like got a couple of wingers who are very quick.

On the importance of making a quick start after conceding early against Newcastle last time out: "We warn the players every week about making a quick start."

On Ruben Loftus-Cheek's return: "He provides a bit of balance. He has been building his fitness up."

On West Ham: "It goes to show the Premier League is unforgiving. If you have a few tough moments you can suffer. Whenever you play here, it is a tough game. We have to bring the best of ourselves to the game."
