  1. 'Replay will be good for us'published at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was a tough game, but nothing we didn't expect. Ipswich are a good League One team.

"I'm happy with the result. With the squad we have and the players we want to bring up to speed, the replay will be good for us.

"In the end, it was a typical cup match, there was nothing to complain about and another game for us to look forward to. We battled it out and there are a lot of positives to take from that."

  2. 'We have to change the mentality'published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    Preston v Spurs (18:00 GMT)

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini took the pre-game media responsibilties, instead of boss Antonio Conte.

He said: "Many times when I was here we speak about trophies. I don’t want to push or create pressure on this.

"We have to change the mentality. The last game was a good starting point to change this. With a change of mentality you don’t have to talk about winning a trophy, you have to do it.

"We prepare every game we are going to play, we keep the best team to try to win. We are here enough time to have players ready to play one game and nothing happen with some changes."

  3. 'I am delighted but a lot to learn'published at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 2-1 Blackpool

    Southampton

Southampton manager Nathan Jones speaking on Final Score: "We shot ourselves in the foot at times, especially against a team like that. We could have defended the counter-attacks better. We controlled it well and created chances where we could have scored more. It is difficult to keep pushing.

"It was a tricky tie. Mick McCarthy, fresh in and with lots of energy. We made eight changes whilst they were the same.

"It was a little disjointed. We were in control at 2-0.

"We had a lot of young players out today. They've never played against Championship sides and they need to learn as it is different.

"The first goal was an excellent one. We work on that type of play all the time.

"We have big strong players and have played together for a long time but we have played at Championship level. It is hard.

"I am delighted but there's a lot to learn. It is not pretty at times but the important thing, they aren't talking about being knocked out. We are through."

  4. 'This tournament will give us confidence'published at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

FT: Accrington Stanley 1-3 Leeds United

    Leeds United

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch about what pleased him most: "Mostly our mentality. We didn’t take them lightly. Credit to them, they fought hard. We knew they’d be direct and a lot of free-kicks and throw-ins so we had to dig in early. Getting the goal was important and I thought we came out in the second half with the right mentality and got the win."

How important is that mentality going forward? "We always have a group that are ready to work and run. The key is just that we perform clearly tactically and we get more towards the team we want to be and gather more and more results. This tournament will give us confidence. We know we have some tough games coming up in the Premier League but the group is feeling better and better about the progress."

Is the winning feeling important? "Yeah, but not just the winning but that we’re winning with the players playing with confidence and playing the way we want to play and we’re getting momentum."

On Patrick Bamford: "We were both just really happy in the 75th minute - he was exhausted. He hasn’t had that feeling in quite some time, where e can physically manage him to put major minutes in. It is a big step for him and I think he’s playing well, that will be important for us."

  6. 'I have to perform and win'published at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 2-1 Blackpool

    Southampton

Southampton player Romain Perraud speaking on Final Score: "I am very happy to help the team and the chance to score twice. It's another game for us now in a special competition. I'm happy for the fans and now we are looking forward to the next round. It is always good."

"It is important to be ready for any game. I am here to show the manager I can help the team.

"You have no excuse other than just play when on the pitch. I don't care if its a League Two side or a Premier League one like Manchester City, I have to perform and win but enjoy the football at the same time. That is always the first thing on my mind."

Tottenham need a new keeper, a new centre-back and there is a lack of creativity in this Spurs side. I don't understand why they didn't go back for Christian Eriksen after he did that year at Brentford. He has been an absolute revelation at Manchester United.

Tottenham are such a hard team to watch. I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Tottenham right now.

  9. How they got herepublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

  10. 'We need to stay in Premier League'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 2-1 Blackpool

    Southampton

Southampton defender Romain Perraud, who scored both goals: "I try to help my team every time. I try to leave everything on the pitch. Today I had a chance to be clinical. It's never easy to play against this type of team. The FA Cup is a tough competition.

"This is another step and it feels good for us. If you ask me would I rather take some points or not score, I prefer to take some points. We need to stay in the Premier League."

  11. 'Too open for a manager to like'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Fulham 1-1 Sunderland

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva, speaking to BBC Sport: "Typical FA Cup match. We knew we would face a big club with a great fanbase. It was a too open for a manager to like and we gave a goal too early. In our offensive part we were dominant. We created enough chances to score but gave them more chances than we would like.

"We were not able to win the game this afternoon so have to do the job in 10-15 days away from home."

  12. 'A strong performance with a little regret'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's mixed emotions. I'm proud of the players and the supporters. It was a great atmosphere and an intense game. It was a strong performance with a little regret that we're not through to the next round as we had some big moments.

"But it was a good day for the club, we showed the trajectory we are on and we've challenged a really good Burnley side.

On the replay: "It'll be a good pitch and a good occasion and we'll go with the same spirit and attitude to hope to cause an upset. The players can only get stronger from these games. We've got a strong squad and we're happy to have the game. Going to Turf Moor will only help us on our step up."

    Sunderland

Fifteen-year-old Chris Rigg thought he had netted the winner for Sunderland in the final moments but his goal was disallowed for offside.

"Riggy trains with us twice a week because he is at school the rest of the week," manager Tony Mowbray said.

"We have day release for him and he trains with the first team the rest of the time.

"He deserves to play. I don't put him on for a stunt for the football club. I wouldn't do that to a 15-year-old."

  17. 'I am proud' - Sunderland boss Mowbraypublished at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Fulham 1-1 Sunderland

    Sunderland

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray, speaking to BBC Sport: "There was only two players on the pitch aged over 22. A team of kids came to a team that are flying in the Premier League and gave a good account of themselves. I am proud. They beat Chelsea here a couple of weeks ago. Let's keep going and keep believing we can beat teams in the Championship.

"Our number nine went off. If Ross [Stewart] stayed on the pitch there is a fair chance some of those chances would have fallen to him and he would have finished them. We created some amazing chances. Fulham are a wonderful football team and Marco done an amazing job. It was a good game of football."

On top scorer Stewart's injury: "It looks like an Achilles injury. It is a dangerous injury really. A scan will show, lets hope it's not totally ruptured."

  18. 'Sometimes we don't do basics right'published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2023

    FT: Southampton 2-1 Blackpool

    Southampton

Southampton boss Nathan Jones, speaking to BBC Sport: "We were in control at 2-0 but sometimes we don't do the basics right. We caused our own problems. On the whole we have been good but today we probably made it harder for ourselves.

"We have to make sure transfer cup form into the league."

On Romain Perraud, who scored both goals: "He's brilliant. He's got mad energy and he's aggressive and a real upbeat character. I'm really delighted for him."

There are two changes for Preston from their previous Championship game, a 2-1 win at Birmingham.

Ched Evans comes in up front to partner Tom Cannon, in place of Liam Delap who is cup-tied having played for Stoke City in round three.

Ben Whiteman for Ben Woodburn in midfield is the other change, the former Liverpool man is on the bench.

Preston XI: Woodman; Storey, Lindsay, Hughes; Browne, McCann, Ledson, Whiteman, Brady; Cannon, Evans

Harry Kane is named on the bench, while there is an entirely new defensive unit including a start in goal for Fraser Forster.

It is a strong front three however, with Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min keeping their places from the win at Craven Cottage.
