Blackpool go straight up the other end and CJ Hamilton stretches his legs for the first time.

Space for Sonny Carey to shoot but he can’t beat Tomas Vaslic in the Huddersfield goal.

  2. SAVEpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2023

    Blackpool 0-0 Huddersfield

First chance of the night and it’s fallen for Huddersfield.

They work it from the right to Martyn Waghorn and his shot is well kept out by Chris Maxwell.

It was heading for the right-hand corner.

    Blackpool 0-0 Huddersfield

Couple of corners for Blackpool as first Matt Lowton and then Tom Lees turn the ball behind.

But Town defend the set-pieces solidly and the danger is averted.

The ball is not spending a lot of time on the floor. Blackpool aren't playing out from the back, the ball's going from back to front up to Gary Madine.

Huddersfield need to stay switched on.

    Blackpool 0-0 Huddersfield

I have to tell you there's not a lot to report thus far after an interrupted start to this game. One Huddersfield corner so far, but that's about it.

Lumping the ball forward isn't going to work for Huddersfield.

Blackpool have a couple of giants at the back and Martyn Waghorn isn't going to win very much.

Huddersfield need to get the ball down and play.

Accrington, managed by John Coleman (centre), are playing one of the two games they have in hand over the sides directly above them in the League One table at Port Vale on Tuesday.

There are three EFL games outside the Championship this evening, which we will keep you up-to-date with as we go on.

In League One, Accrington Stanley head for mid-table Port Vale knowing victory would be a big boost to their hopes of staying up.

John Coleman's side are second-from-bottom, but a victory by two goals or more at Vale Park would lift them out of the relegation zone.

In League Two, leaders Leyton Orient can stretch their lead at the top to seven points with victory at a Crewe side who are without a win in four games, and who have won only one of their past nine matches in all competitions.

There is also a meeting of two mid-table teams as Doncaster host Tranmere, with a win for either putting them within touching distance of a play-off spot.

Huddersfield’s prize is to move out of the bottom three with a win this evening.

They enjoyed a good festive period with back-to-back wins.

But since then it’s been four league games without victory in 2023 for Mark Fotheringham’s side.

Mick McCarthy takes charge of his first home game as Blackpool manager tonight.

What a challenge he has to revive the side second-bottom of the Championship.

They begin the night three points from safety and it’s been 11 matches since Blackpool last won.

But what an opportunity against Huddersfield just a place above them.
