So that's where we leave you this evening.

Not a stellar game by any means, between two sides well out of form in the Championship.

But it's still tight in the second tier, both in the battle for the play-offs and against relegation.

If you've missed tonight's action, we've got you covered with our match report here.

For now though, thanks for joining us.

  2. The EFL action continuespublished at 22:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2023

    FT: Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

The action in the EFL continues on Tuesday as strugglers Blackpool and Huddersfield face off, with the chance to sneak out the Championship drop zone possibly on offer to the winner.

Meanwhile, we've also got action in Leagues One and Two to look forward to.

It's been a really positive night for Wigan. The performance here has definitely had the 'new manager bounce' and is better than anything I saw under Kolo Toure.

But for every high there's a low. For every positive a negative. And two impressive debutants have suffered here at Ewood Park with injuries.

Omar Rekik had not only defended well but attacked too, and Martin Kelly has been crucial to some big blocks and interceptions on Blackburn attacks.

Let's hope it's not too serious but if they're absent, they'll be missed - and it's not often you say that after just one game.

So what does that do to the Championship table?

Well, Blackburn move up a place to seventh and are level on points with sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion.

Wigan miss the chance to move off the bottom of the table and remain 24th, but are now three points off safety.

You want to see a bit more goalmouth action. Wigan will be happier getting the draw.

Blackburn - I hope they're not happy with the performance. Everything was slow and meaningless and it has to be quicker.

They're allowing teams to get into a shape that Blackburn can't break down.

Well...that was 90 minutes of football, wasn't it?

Ben Brereton Diaz came closest to scoring early on in this encounter, but his tame shot was well dealt with by Wigan's Ben Amos. Other than that, not a great deal happened.

Boos ring around Ewood Park as the full-time whistle is sounded. No surprise.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 90+7 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Blackburn call for a penalty right at the end of this match as Harry Pickering goes down.

It comes as Wigan's Jack Whatmough also goes to ground, but referee Matt Donohue waves away their shouts for a spot kick.

Hello to our readers who've presumably joined us for the final few minutes of this game and to see what's going on.

You've not missed much. Three minutes left.

  9. Postpublished at 90+3 mins

Plenty of passing about from Wigan in injury time. Not much end product.

There's an urgency about both sides but there's a lack of quality on offer to produce a late goal, you feel.

  10. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

    Seven minutes added on.

We've got seven more minutes of this to sit through.

Things have boiled over, maybe because both sides are bored, I'm not sure.

James McClean puts a daft challenge in on Joe Rankin-Costello who retaliates. Then there's pushing and shoving from both sets of players who all run in.

McClean goes into the book, as does Rankin-Costello. Frankly it could have been red for McClean as it's a reckless tackle.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 85 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Ben Brereton Diaz goes into the book with a cynical boot in on Max Power.

Wigan win a free-kick which, of course, is squandered because apparently neither side are taking their chances in this game.

It's a scrappy ending to this one as Wigan's James McClean flies in and concedes a free-kick on the right flank.

Blackburn whip the free-kick into the box and Harry Pickering buries it over the bar from distance with an utterly pointless shot.

An effort that bad that, according to our friends at BBC Radio Lancashire, the Blackburn directors box all get up and decide they've seen enough for the evening.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Bradley Dack comes off for Blackburn, along with Sorba Thomas.

Ryan Hedges and Sammie Szmodics come on for the hosts.

I'd take Ben Brereton Diaz off, he's not contributed much tonight.

Right then, about 15 minutes left.

Can either side find a late winner or are we destined for a miserable goalless draw on a Monday night in the Championship?

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 75 mins

Martin Kelly injuredImage source, PA Media

Make it two Wigan debutants who've limped off tonight.

Martin Kelly is down for quite a while receiving treatment and his night is now over, too, in addition to Omar Rekik who came off earlier.

Steven Caulker comes on, along with Charlie Wyke who replaces Will Keane.

  18. Postpublished at 71 mins

Max Power curls high and wide from the free-kick that follows Hayden Carter's yellow card.

A bit of a waste from Wigan, that.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 70 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Hayden Carter goes into the book for a cynical foul on Wigan's Callum Lang.

Lang's making himself a handful for Blackburn's defence at the minute.

We're almost at the 70 minute mark and it's not about fitness levels, it's about breathing.

It's a great reaction from the goalkeeper.
