Plenty of action in midfield at the minute as both sides exchange possession before making their next move.

Sorba Thomas and Bradley Dack combine as Blackburn make their way through towards the Wigan box, forcing Martin Kelly into a clearance.

Will Keane and Callum Lang combine as Wigan catch Blackburn out and go on the attack.

But Lewis Travis cuts in to neutralise the danger.

There are 14,540 in attendance at Ewood Park tonight, with 2,766 travelling Wigan supporters.

Not a bad away following given the Latics are bottom of the Championship.

Omar Rekik is down soon after his low strike for Wigan as he challenges Sorba Thomas for the ball, and it looks like his debut for the club is over.

The game is hardly a cracker, not unlike the press food at Ewood Park tonight.

At the DW Stadium you get a pie (what else would you get in Wigan) with Middlesbrough's chicken balti pie leading my food charts so far this season.

It's a sandwich at Blackburn tonight, on the other hand. Don't get me wrong, we're in a privileged position with our jobs, but a pie wouldn't go amiss on a chilly Lancashire night.

It was a very patient game from both sides who wanted to keep the ball.

It's a very open first 45 minutes and both teams limited the other to few chances.

If it were the beginning of the season, we'd be looking at a very different game.

The first half draws to a close.

Shaun Maloney's first game in charge of Wigan isn't going too badly so far. If you didn't already know, you probably wouldn't think they're bottom of the table and without a win in the league since 12 November.

Blackburn saw the best chance of the half squandered by Ben Brereton Diaz, though, when one-on-one with Ben Amos.

But Wigan race up the other end soon after clearing yet another corner away and, impressively, win another corner of their own on the counter.

You can see the influence Shaun Maloney's had on Wigan's attacking players.

He scored some spectacular goals in his career. Callum Lang and Danel Sinani have had a few long range shots and they're taking a leaf out of the manager's book.
