    We've seen the likes of Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday continue to set the pace with relentless steel at the top of the table.

    Others such as Middlesbrough and Plymouth have learned it's tough at the top, while for strugglers Huddersfield and Crawley the task ahead of them is clear, after heavy losses.

    We are not yet at the end of February, but the finishing line is already looming into view for Championship leaders Burnley.

    With their 4-0 win over Huddersfield and Middlesbrough's 2-0 loss at West Brom, the gap between the Clarets and the play-off spots is now 19 points.

    Burnley only need six more wins to secure promotion. At this rate, they could be up by Easter!

    Burnley continued their fine form to move 19 points clear of third-placed Middlesbrough, while Sheffield United opened up a seven-point buffer after they beat Watford and Boro lost at West Brom.

    The rest of the play-off race remains tight, with wins for Blackburn, Millwall Luton and Norwich City.

    • Carlisle move up to second – having five different scorers as they won 5-2 at lowly Crawley - as Stevenage slip to third after a 1-0 home defeat by Tranmere
    • Mansfield and Salford’s head-to-head in the play-off places goes to the visitors – Salford winning 5-2.
    • At the bottom a Jimmy Keohane goal in the 80th minute hands Rochdale a welcome point through a 1-1 draw at Crewe.

    Preston 2-1 Wigan

    Wigan were ahead at half-time thanks to a Greg Cunningham own goal.

    But a Daniel Johnson penalty and Tom Cannon's first senior goal saw Preston come from behind for a first home win since 1 November.

    The Latics pushed desperately for an equaliser, but it's a first defeat under Shaun Maloney.

    West Brom 2-0 Middlesbrough

    Daryl Dike's double is enough to stall the Middlesbrough promotion freight train and dump a healthy spadeful of coal in the Baggies boiler in turn.

    West Brom were full steam ahead in this one, despite Boro's persistence, and once Dike had struck, the deficit was just too much to claw back.

    Carlos Corberan's side are now four points off Norwich in sixth from their 10th position, while Michael Carrick's Boro remain third despite this loss.

    Birmingham 0-1 Luton

    Luton's push for a play-off place is bolstered by another goal from Carlton Morris, although at a cost as he was taken off injured along with Reece Burke.

    This win means they're not only above local rivals Watford in the table thanks to Sheffield United's win, but they're only one point behind Norwich in sixth.

    Birmingham took til late on to really rally, with Scott Hogan hitting the bar, so they still have to look slightly anxiously down the table at the drop zone at present.

    Second-placed Sheffield United recover from back-to-back defeats to move seven points clear of the play-off pack.

    A Ryan Porteous own goal settled what was a match of few clear chances.

    For Watford, it is just one win in seven league games and their top-six bid is faltering.

    Sonny Carey scored with effectively the last kick of the game, but it's a miserable trip back up north for Mick McCarthy and Blackpool.

    Blackburn look set to cut the gap to third-placed Middlesbrough to two points after spoiling Gareth Ainsworth's first match in charge of QPR.

    A double from Sam Gallagher and one goal from Sammie Szmodics make it seven without defeat for Rovers.

    For Rangers fans, the statistics make woeful reading.

    It's now 11 without a win in the Championship, nine without a win at home and just one victory in 18 league outings.
