  1. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Scotland 1-0 Wales

That's exactly the start Scotland will have been looking for after some disappointing moments this tournament.

Wales will be bitterly disappointed in the manner they conceded. Howard peels away with ease from a simple - albeit clinical - corner.

Erin Cuthbert's well-flighted corner is met by the rising Sophie Howard who darts her header into the bottom corner with power.

  3. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Wales

    Scotland enjoying possession early doors.

The windy conditions certainly hampered them in their opening match against Iceland. It doesn't look like that'll be a problem today.

I'm very, very jealous of anyone out there right now by the looks of things...

  7. What's up for grabs?published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Scotland v Wales (14:05)

Scotland may have won the inaugural Pinatar Cup back in 2020, but it looks highly unlikely the Scots will be returning home victorious this time around.

Philippines are the only nation not to pick up a point yet - despite being the only country heading for the World Cup in the summer - and they take on Iceland, who defeated Scotland 2-0 and drew 0-0 with Wales.

Gemma Grainger's side defeated Philippines 1-0. Victory this afternoon would guarantee at least a second place finish.

Wales would need to better Iceland's result against Philippines - or win by two goals more than Thorsteinn Halldorsson's side - to win the tournament.

  8. Deja vu...published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Scotland v Wales (14:05)

Cast your mind back to last year.

Scotland were kicking off their defence of the Pinatar Cup while Wales were one of the newbies in town.

Lana Clelland headed Scotland into a first-half lead but a crazy spell either side of the interval saw a Jess Fishlock double and a final third from Natasha Harding deliver Wales a well deserved victory.

Go and catch the highlights here.

  9. Cain's resilience rewardedpublished at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Scotland v Wales (14:05)

Hannah Cain hasn't had an easy road to walking out for Wales for her first start.

The Leicester City forward picked up an ACL injury on her international debut, before adding a hamstring injury on top of that during her recovery.

Read all about her remarkable return in this piece from my Welsh colleague, Philip Marsh.

Who I am not at all jealous of, with him being out in Spain...

Wales have made four changes from their goalless draw with Iceland here on Saturday night.

Most notably, Leicester forward Hannah Cain is handed a first start on her fourth cap - Rachel Rowe in on the bench.

Charlie Estcourt and Josie Green come into defence, replacing Hayley Ladd and Rhiannon Roberts.

The goalkeeper rotation also continues, as Olivia Clark starts between the posts.

  11. Emslie joins the Roll of Honour; Cuthbert fit to startpublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

    Scotland v Wales (14:05)

Pedro Martinez Losa reverts to a much more familiar team for this final match out in Pinatar.

Claire Emslie will win her 50th cap today out in Spain. She has 11 goals to date for her country and was one of the few bright sparks in the Scotland side when the nations met here last time around.

Erin Cuthbert is fit to start after suffering a head knock against Iceland in the opening game.

Abi Harrison leads the line while the top goalscorer in the SWPL, Lauren Davidson is rewarded with another start after netting her first Scotland goal against the Philippines.

    Scotland v Wales (14:05)

The Scottish and Welsh FAs have agreed for this game to be dedicated to Football v Homophobia

All the players have been warming up wearing t-shirts embodying that message as shown in Welsh by Wales right-back Rhiannon Roberts, while Scotland central defender Sophie Howard dons one in English.
