The two Glasgow protagonists move on from Celtic's 21st League Cup final triumph to the chase for Premiership and the Scottish Cup glory, with each are looking to defend the trophies.

"We didn't start the game well," Rangers manager Michael Beale tells BBC Scotland.

"I think that was clear to see. It took us too long to find our rhythm in our football and get up to the speed in the game.

"Fair play to Celtic, I thought they started the game well and I thought we were going to get away with getting into half-time without conceding, but we didn't and that was disappointing.

"We came out in the second half much improved in our energy, not always our quality, but the energy and we had a big moment where we should have scored on the rebound of Ryan's shot - if he had, that would've been a momentum changer.

"Our mentality after conceding the second goal was magnificent. We huffed and puffed, but we couldn't find our moment on the day. I said to the players, that was a harsh game of football."

Michael Beale is lamenting Rangers' start to the game.

"You can't turn up 30 minutes into the game against your biggest rivals," he tells BBC Scotland. "We didn't have enough today."

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Sportsound: "Moments like this, you want to get the whole experience. You watch the players, the fans, what it means to them. I take great pride in it.

"It's a day I'll remember forever. We've been consistent for a very long time. We don't let our standards slip in terms of our football.”

On match-winner Kyogo Furuhashi, the Celtic boss adds: “Sometimes the measure of a footballer at this club is whether you can deliver on the big occasions. He's just an unbelievable young man in terms of his personality.

"He's such a clever player and he wants the big moments. He delivered again.”

"You start every season hoping it's a special season," he says of the prospect of completing a domestic treble. "But we'll enjoy tonight and it's important we celebrate tonight because the staff and the players, everyone at the football club have worked hard for this.

"The supporters too deserve to celebrate this moment. But, once we've done that in the right way, we'll focus on next week against St Mirren.

"We haven't had many off days because we never look too far ahead and never look to far back. That's why we have been so relentless in our approach.

There's only one driver of this club. Ange is in front - and I don't see him stopping. He's been a brilliant acquisition for Celtic Football Club. His drive for success and application levels have been quite incredible.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells Viaplay "it's a relief".

"The overwhelming feeling is always relief at the end of game," he says. "People think you're jumping for joy, but it's relief because you know how much it means to everyone involved in the football club, the players, the staff and especially the supporters - the players carry that burden for 90 minutes and they got the job done.

"The players have had to be resilient. They understand what it means to play for this football club.

"We have some outstanding leaders, Callum McGregor is outstanding, so when you have guys like that, the rest will follow. He sets the right example.

"We had to earn it today. We played some fantastic football, but we just couldn't put it away and you know Rangers are going to come at you. When we had to defend, I thought we defended well. We could've just done with that third goal to kill them off."

Celtic are still six short of Rangers' record of 27 League Cup final triumphs, and 9-7 behind in Old Firm finals, but they have now won seven of the last nine overall.

They have also edged in front 25-24 in League Cup meetings between the sides - and Rangers have still not lifted this trophy since 2011.

Allan McGregor had three, four good stops. Joe Hart didn't. A few Rangers player didn't step up. For me, that's a disappointment.

Kyogo Furuhashi is the second Celtic player to score back-to-back braces in League Cup finals.

Fellow striker Billy McPhail, who made his name with Clyde, did it in 1956 and 1957 (when he got a hat-trick).

Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart thinks it "was a great game".

"Kept our cool in some tough moments," he says. "They pushed hard, but we had enough in the end.

"We played a very hard team to put away today. You can only do that if you are all pushing in the same direction and we are that.

"It's special. This club is really special and means so much to people.

"However, we are very good at staying in the present. We will enjoy today and will focus on a tough game against St Mirren."

Celtic left-back Greg Taylor tells BBC Sportsound: "It's a feeing we never get tired of. We're delighted to do it again for the fans.

"First half, we were very good, a lot of control. We showed grit and determination - the subs coming on helped us."

Celtic winger Jota tells Viaplay "it's a very important moment".

"In the first half, we showed what our team does," he says. "In the second, we were not so good, but we won. Every win is very important and I am just very grateful for this moment.

"To be a Celtic fan and a Celtic player is unbelievable right now.

"We practise great football, the fans enjoy it and exciting times are ahead for us."
