    HT: Hull 1-0 West Brom

... Hull have won just one of their last 12 meetings with West Brom, 1-0 at home in November 2018. Albion have won the last six, including 5-2 at The Hawthorns earlier this season.

Hull are also winless in four and went down 1-0 at Bristol City last Saturday.

As it stands Liam Rosenior’s side will move within three points of the Baggies.

There is no league quite like the Championship.

What do you make of the opening 45 minutes then? For all the world it looked like the West Brom that overcame Middlesbrough last Saturday early-on, but Hull remembered they are supposed to be Tigers and now they'll be wondering if they could be further ahead.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

    Hull 1-0 West Brom

West Brom were so good, so good in the opening 20 minutes, but that break in play when Regan Slater received treatment allowed Hull to change their gameplan.

Benjamin Tetteh lashed the hosts ahead moments later with their first attempt on goal and despite looking more threatening at the other end, the Baggies trail at the break.

    Hull 1-0 West Brom

Carlos Corberan is stalking around the technical area deep in thought. West Brom were in absolute control in the opening 30 minutes but they're now staring down the barrel of a fifth straight away defeat.

Huge 15 minutes coming up in the Baggies dressing room.

  6. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Hull 1-0 West Brom

    West Brom are reeling.

Hull pile forward and Lewie Coyle has a dig from the edge of the box, the ball ricochets up and it's that man Benjamin Tetteh once again who unleashes an acrobatic over-the-shoulder volley which cannons off a defender and behind.

We're watching a man in the absolute zone for the past few minutes. A rare treat.

  7. champagne moment

    CHAMPAGNE MOMENTpublished at 36 mins

    Hull 1-0 West Brom

Tell you what, Benjamin Tetteh nearly had a second, he rose like a salmon to control a right-wing cross on his chest before firing in a first-time volley which Josh Griffiths instinctively saved superbly to his right.

The whistle has gone, presumably for a handball during the chest control, but I tell you what, football was the winner there!

  8. goal

GOAL: Hull 1-0 West Brompublished at 33 mins

    Benjamin Tetteh

Albion keeper Josh Griffiths has barely touched the ball, now he's picking it out of the net.

Regan Slater bundles his way into the box and the ball breaks kindly to the left where Benjamin Tetteh is able to turn and lash an angled strike past Griffiths' fingertips and into the top corner.

His first goal for the club and repayng his manager's faith for handing him the start ahead of leading scorer Oscar Estupinan.

  9. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Heart in mouth moment for Sean McLoughlin as he completely miskicks his attempted clearance from another Jed Wallace cross from, you guessed it, the right.

The ball bounces up at him like an excited puppy and when he eventually hacks clear it is charged down by an attacker... illegally according to the referee. Relieved look on McLoughlin's face.

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

That chat looks to have made a difference. Hull have flown around since the restart, applying pressure higher up the pitch and unsettling Albion's rhythm.

    Better from the hosts.

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Brief break in play as Regan Slater drops to the turf to receive treatment. A useful chance for Hull to regroup, the players flock to the touchline to chat to boss Liam Rosenior.

I suspect he'll be telling them they need to change something or they'll find themselves behind before too long.

    Back underway...

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 18 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Two saves in a minute in fact. First Karl Darlow gets down to his left to keep out Jed Wallace's first-time strike from just inside the box after a break down the left.

Moments later Marc Albrighton sends in a cross from the left for Daryl Dike whose close range header is too close to the keeper who parries away to his right. Dike gets to the rebound but his effort is deflected over.

    West Brom mean business tonight.

  13. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Jayson Molumby is unceremoniously bundled over needlessly by Sean McLoughlin but Hull are able to clear the subsequent free-kick from John Swift.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 10 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Another ball in from the right from Jed Wallace causes havoc, the ball is slammed into the unwitting Marc Albrighton with the rebound looping towards the top corner until Karl Darlow bravely claws it off his line under pressure from Daryl Dike.

This is his home debut and that will have endeared the on-loan Newcastle keeper to the locals.

  15. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Early days but Albion are popping the ball around nicely, side to side, back to front, and they keep finding Jed Wallace with his wand of a right foot out there on the flank in space.

Something Hull will need to address, you'd think.

  16. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Darnell Furlong is now involved at the other end, he meets a right-wing cross from Jed Wallace at the near post but his header is high and wide... not sure he knew he had Daryl Dike in a better position just beyond him.

  17. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

Some brave defending from Darnell Furlong, getting his head to a deep cross ahead of Regan Slater, and earning himself a sympathetic free-kick for his troubles. The Tigers fans aren't amused.

  18. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Hull 0-0 West Brom

The bustling Daryl Dike straight into the action for Albion, just unable to keep the ball in play.

The American might have only five goals all season, but four of them have come in his last eight games, two of them downed Boro last Saturday. A man in form.
