  1. Happy hunting ground for Albionpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Hull v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

The Baggies have a fine record against Hull, winning the last six meetings and only losing one of their last dozen clashes, when Nigel Adkins masterminded a 1-0 home win for City in November 2018.

The Baggies have also won on their last two visits to the MKM, 2-0 last season and 1-0 in 2019-20.

Records are meant to be broken though, right? Hull had conceded in 15 straight games before they began a run of three straight clean sheets at home at the end of January.

Albion will need to end their own run of four straight defeats on the road in all competitions if they are to close the six-point gap to the play-off places tonight.

They have 13 games left... unlucky for Hull? We'll find out shortly....

  3. Team news - one change for Baggiespublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Hull v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

West Brom XI: Griffiths; Furlong, O'Shea, Pieters, Townsend; Yokuslu, Molumby, Wallace, Swift, Albrighton; Dike.

Subs:Button, Ajayi, Reach, Gardner-Hickman, Chalobah, Richards, Malcolm.

Carlos Corberan makes one change from the Baggies side which overcame Boro, and it's an enforced one as Grady Diangana is replaced by Marc Albrighton.

Top-scorer Brandon Thomas-Asante (hamstring) and Diangana (foot) joined the lengthy queue for the treatment room this week, along with fringe players Karlan Grant (thigh) and former Tigers midfielder Jake Livermore (illness).

Corberan is without 10 senior players including Alex Palmer, Kyle Bartley, Matty Phillips and Tom Rogic, and has named academy forward Jovan Malcolm and striker Rico Richards on his bench, neither of whom have made a league appearance.

Adam Reach and Taylor Gardner-Hickman are recalled to the bench while Erik Pieters is fit despite a knock against Boro.

  4. Team news - Four changes for Tigerspublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Hull v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

Hull City XI: Darlow, Elder, McLoughlin, A Jones, Coyle, Slater, Docherty, Simons, Longman, Ozan, Tetteh.

Subs: Lo-Tutala, Greaves, Figueiredo, Allahyar, Traore, Estupinan, Ebiowei.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the players unavailable to these two managers would make up a more than handy Championship matchday squad.

Liam Rosenior has made four changes to the Tigers side from last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Cyrus Christie (knee) misses out with Lewie Coyle taking over the armband while sought-after Jacob Greaves drops to the bench with Callum Elder given the nod.

Benjamin Tetteh is handed a start in place of 12-goal leading scorer Oscar Estupinan while Ryan Longman comes in for Malcolm Ebiowei.

Dimi Pelkas, Matty Ingram, Ryan Woods, Jean Michael Seri and Aaron Connolly are sidelined.

One player returning to the bench is Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, out since January with a hamstring injury. The 21-year-old made a goalscoring return for the under-21s in midweek.

  5. All set for Friday night lightspublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't... win?

If you're looking for positve omens, maybe look away now. West Brom have not won any of their last eight away league games played on a Friday night, claiming just two points and losing six times. The only crumb of comfort I can offer Baggies fans is their last Friday night road win did come in Yorkshire, a 2-1 win at Sheffield United in December 2018.

Don't get too excited Tigers fans, Hull have lost both their Friday night games this season without scoring.

  6. But what does it all mean?published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Hull v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

Hull were a point above the drop-zone when Liam Rosenior took over at the MKM four months ago. They are 16th but, if they win tonight, they would be 14 points clear and, dare I say it, would only be nine points adrift of the play-off places ahead of the weekend's action.

West Brom have seen an even more impressive turnaround since Carlos Corberan took over with the club mired in the relegation zone. They are 11th but a win tonight would take them within three points of the top six having played the same number of games.

A crucial game for both of these sides, then!

  7. Good evening...published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2023

Hull v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

    Welcome to your weekend!

No internationals, no Europe, no Premier League, this Friday night the EFL is the only show in town and there is a suitably intriguing match in store as West Brom head north east to face Hull.

The Baggies gave themselves a timely boost in their Championship play-off push with victory over red-hot Middlesbrough on Saturday but can they follow it up against the Tigers, who are out of form, but who haven't tasted defeat at home since before the World Cup.

Kick-off at the MKM Stadium is 15 minutes away, I'll bring you all you need to know in the lead up to kick-off.
