It's poor, poor defending. Three of them should have shoved Josh Laurent out and Tyrese Campbell is not going to miss from there. It's game over now.

    Done and dusted now surely.

There's a better tempo about Blackburn now but the final ball is still not good enough. They still can't string those passes together.

Blackburn can't get a grip on the ball, they keep giving it away. And they look very open, particularly on their left-hand side.

Alex Neil's gamplan has worked to a tee. He knew Blackburn would play the ball around at the back so he's pressed them and he's dominated the midfield area with the three in there.

Will Smallbone can't belive he's missed that one. He smashed it over the bar with his left foot from five yards.

The two chances he has missed are just about the only things he has done wrong all night.

    How has he missed that?!

Great flowing bit of build-up play from Stoke which is created by some quick thinking from Will Smallbone.

He plays through the middle and makes a run into the box and tries to get on the end of a Ki-Jana Hoever cross but Blackburn just about deal with it.

Blackburn need a response against Stoke and they need it now.

  20. Stoke's double turbo boost from Hoeverpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2023

    Stoke City 2-0 Blackburn Rovers

    Ged Scott
BBC Sport at the Bet 365 Stadium

Stoke City have been the absolute benchmark for inconsistency this season.

They have only once put together back-to-back league wins this season, back in October when they beat Sheffield United and won at Alex Neil's old club Preston in successive matches.

But, after Ki-Jana Hoever's double, they look on course to do it tonight. And, after two successive blanks, the goals are suddenly flying in.

Five at Neil's most recent former club Sunderland last weekend - and now two more from an on-loan right-back who has tripled his career haul in one night. It might not have so far been the tidiest of games so far but, thanks to Hoever, they already look set to clean up.
