Good chance for Isaak Davies to draw Cardiff level but he can't get the ball on target from Callum O'Dowda's cross, which took a big deflection on its way in.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Sunderland 0-0 Sheffield United

Anthony Patterson makes an excellent diving save to his right to deny Daniel Jebbison from scoring in the bottom corner, after he switched the ball onto his left foot on the edge of the box brilliantly before unleashing a shot from distance.

    Huddersfield Town 0-0 Norwich City

Huddersfield need to start picking up points if they want to climb out of the drop zone.

But it's play-off chasers Norwich who have carved out the best early chance.

Josh Sargent and Kenny McLean link up down the left and the latter pulls his effort across goal.

  4. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 0-1 West Brompublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Daryl Dike (17 mins)

Not the start Cardiff will have wanted at all.

Daryl Dike gives West Brom the lead, striking the ball straight into the net from a lovely cross from Jed Wallace.

  5. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Sunderland 0-0 Sheffield United

Talk about fast start, we've had barely 20 seconds on the clock and Sheffield United break into the Sunderland box and James McAtee gets a shot away which is deflected behind for a corner.

Anel Ahmedhodžić heads the subsequent set piece just wide.

  6. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Hull 0-0 Burnley

Hull are unbeaten in their last seven at home and have begun to create a little danger of their own.

Callum Elder whips in a cross from the left which finds Adama Traoré unmarked in the area, but the midfielder heads wide.

We're now up and running in our later match between Sunderland and Sheffield United, too.

  8. Postpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Luton Town 1-0 Bristol City

    Off the line!

Luton almost, almost make it 2-0 but Mark Sykes scrambles to deny Elijah Adebayo right on the line after a long ball over the top finds him in the box.

Bristol City's defending is all over the place again.

  9. Postpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Hull City 0-0 Burnley

The leaders need just 12 points to guarantee promotion back to the Premier League.

And the Clarets have started confidently, as you'd probably expect from a team which has gone 16 league matches unbeaten.

Ashley Barnes heads over from a corner.

    Cardiff City 0-0 West Brom

West Brom are enjoying almost all of the possession during the opening few minutes in Cardiff.

They have also had the only semblance of a chance in these early stages, with Daryl Dike not quite able to get on the end of a cross from Marc Albrighton that was whipped into the box.

  11. goal

GOAL: Luton 1-0 Bristol Citypublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Carlton Morris (4 mins)

What a start for Luton who have taken the lead against Bristol City only four minutes in.

Carlton Morris is the man once again with the goal, with an easy header from a cross into the box that the Robins really should have dealt with better.

  12. goal

GOAL: Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Readingpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Ben Brereton Diaz (2 mins)

    What a start for Rovers!

Sorba Thomas leads a lightning break for the hosts and lays a pass which takes two deflections on its way to Ben Brereton Diaz.

Diaz then laces a left-footed shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area just two minutes into his first start in five matches.

That's his 13th of the season but his first at home since November.

  13. Inconsistent Blades take on Black Catspublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

Sunderland v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

Sheffield United's form has been hit and miss of late, to say the least.

Since the start of February, they have just three wins with none coming back-to-back. Last weekend's loss to Luton opened the door for Middlesbrough and Luton to chase down their second-place spot, although Boro's draw last night does give the Blades three points of breathing room.

Sunderland are hosting Sheffield United for the first time since September 2017 in the Championship and earned a much-needed win over Norwich on Saturday after their season had threatened to fizzle out.

A win tonight could lift them at least three places up to ninth and keep them in the hunt for the play-offs.

Huddersfield v Norwich City (19:45 GMT)

Things couldn't be much worse for Huddersfield at the moment, with the club rock-bottom of the Championship after another defeat at the weekend and as of yesterday placed under a transfer embargo for submitting their annual accounts late.

The Terriers are six points from safety and worryingly haven't scored in their last four games either and with fellow bottom three clubs Blackpool and Wigan both picking up points last night, they really need something this evening as well to avoid being cut adrift.

Norwich manager David Wagner is facing his former team for the first time tonight, having managed Huddersfield between 2015 and 2019.

His Canaries side remain just outside the top six after defeat by Sunderland on Saturday.

  16. Burnley racing towards promotionpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

Hull City v Burnley (19:45 GMT)

We're still in March but if things carry on the way they're going, Burnley are going to secure their return to the Premier League long before the season is over.

After their 3-0 win over Wigan at the weekend, they need a maximum of 14 points from their last 10 games to go straight up.

Vincent Kompany's men are unbeaten in their last 16 games whereas hosts Hull City have been stuttering in recent weeks.

The Tigers have won only two of their last seven games and their slim hopes of reaching the play-offs look over with them now 12 points adrift of the top six.

  17. Luton still chasing top two spotpublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

Luton Town v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

Luton remain in the hunt for automatic promotion thanks to an important win over rivals Sheffield United on Saturday, which cut the gap between the two teams in second and fourth to seven points.

Bristol City travel to Kenilworth Road tonight where the hosts have only lost two of their previous 14 games.

Things have been on the up for the Robins of late and they have climbed to 13th in the table thanks to a win over Blackpool on Saturday.

They've only lost once in their last 12 games although six of those results have been draws.

  18. Cardiff can't avoid relegation scrap realitypublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

Cardiff City v West Brom (19:45 GMT)

    Sabri LamouchiImage source, Rex Features

Cardiff boss Sabri Lamouchi wants his players to know how much of a relegation fight they're in to the extent he's put pictures of the league table all over the club's training facilities.

"I have put it in the restaurant, the medical room, the changing room," said Lamouchi.

"It is one of the first things you see when you come in."

Positively for the Bluebirds they have three wins in their last five games, but did lose 2-0 to Preston on Saturday and remain just three points above the bottom three.

Tonight's opponents West Brom are staring down on the play-off spots having won their last two games, although they have lost their last four matches on the road in the Championship.

  19. Blackburn hunting third placepublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2023

    Blackburn v Reading (19:45 GMT)

Blackburn's defeat by Stoke on Friday was their first loss in nine games and threw a spanner in the works of their hopes of overhauling Sheffield United in the automatic promotion place.

They are nine points behind the Blades in sixth but could end the night as high as fourth with a victory.

Rovers have a solid record at Ewood Park recently, having not conceded a goal there in their last four league matches.

Paul Ince's Reading, by contrast, haven't won in their last seven away matches and also haven't scored in their last five on the road.

Blackpool players celebrateImage source, Getty Images

Before we look at tonight's fixtures, let's quickly remind ourselves of the lay of the land after last night's results.

Relegation threatened Blackpool boosted their hopes of survival with a 6-1 thumping over fellow strugglers QPR, to move within three points of safety.

Third placed Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 draw with Stoke meaning they remain three points behind Sheffield United, who play tonight.

Millwall moved up to fifth with a 2-1 win over Swansea, while Chris Wilder secured his first win as Watford manager with a 3-0 win over Birmingham at Vicarage Road.
