• Middlesbrough on target to close the gap to second-placed Sheffield United to three points as they lead 1-0 against Preston thanks to Chuba Akpom's opener.
• Coventry maintain their impressive form in the push for a play-off spot, leading 2-1 at struggling Blackpool - who need the points for survival.
• Cardiff are a goal to the good at fellow strugglers Rotherham, Birmingham are 1-0 up at badly out-of-sorts QPR and Watford took the lead against Wigan late in the half.
• Reading squared things up against Hull just before the break thanks to Andy Carroll's goal.
