Barcelona bounced back from back-to-back defeats to beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

An Eder Militao own goal separated the sides at the Bernabeu despite the hosts having more possession and chances.

It is a welcome result for Barca after they lost to Manchester United in the Europa League and Almeria in La Liga.

Xavi's side defended deep after taking the lead and their discipline earned a narrow advantage to take into the second leg at the Nou Camp on April 5.

It's advantage Barcelona as they go into the home second leg on 5 April with a goal lead.

Barca will be in the 2023 Copa del Rey final if they don't lose at home in just over a month's time.

Real Madrid go the whole game without a single shot on target. At home.

It's a stunning defensive display from Barca after they had taken the lead in the first half from an own goal from either Eder Militao or Nacho.

Kessie can't believe it though as his goal-bound shot bounces off team-mate Ansu Fati, whose first touch of the day is to block a potential second goal for his side.

A rare Barcelona chance from a corner from the right and it finds Gavi who can only nod it well wide.

A first-time cross from the left from Barcelona's Raphinha, but the ball is ahead of Ferran Torres and he can't get there in time.

That's Raphinha's last touch of the day as Ansu Fati replaces him.

Barcelona's Franck Kessie is next to see yellow, with an outstretched arm in the face of Dani Carvajal.

Nacho, who may well have scored the own goal, then leaves the field and it's Rodrygo coming on for Real in the first substitution of the game.

Eduardo Camavinga tries to go around the outside of Jules Kounde, but the Barcelona man times a sliding challenge perfectly to concede the corner and Real can't do anything with that one.

Eduardo Camavinga gives the ball away and Raphinha looks to run away for Barcelona, but Camavinga makes up for the error, tracking back and winning the ball fairly. Decent recovery.

Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso does well to get a touch on Federico Valverde's attempted through ball to deny Karim Benzema racing through on goal.
