He goes just a touch too early. He's no more than a foot offside.

  2. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 57 mins

    Brighton 2-0 Grimsby

    No goal.

It was a lovely move from Brighton as Solly March goes through, before slipping the ball to Ferguson for a tap-in.

But March timed his run too early. He's narrowly off and Grimsby just about stay in it.

    Brighton 2-0 Grimsby

A very late flag. Brighton think they're 3-0 up as Evan Ferguson taps home. But is their an offside in the build-up?

    Brighton 2-0 Grimsby

They do indeed. The semi-final draw follows this match and I can't see any way Brighton won't be in it.

Back on the pitch and Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma skips inside before curling a shot just wide.

    Leon Osman

Top class finish from Evan Ferguson. His reputation continues to grow.

Such composure, doesn't need power, just needs precision. He has it.

Brighton look like they are into the FA Cup semi finals.

    Evan Ferguson

This kid has got something about him.

Alexis Mac Allister finds Evan Ferguson who takes one touch to control the ball high in the air, another to beat his man, and a third to pass it into the bottom corner.

    Brighton go deservedly 2-0 up.

    Should have been two!

Solly March's cross takes a huge deflection and the ball loops over four or five players before bouncing out off the indside of the post.

The ball spills to Deniz Undav but he smashes the rebound over the bar.

Grimsby have their backs against the wall.

    Leon Osman

We don't know if the Brighton change is enforced. Grimsby are asked to do lots of hard work, but if they are to gamble, John McAtee is the kind of player they'll need up front.

    Brighton 1-0 Grimsby

    Stephen Kelly

Grimsby have a lot to play for in this second-half. If they stop giving the ball away, they could give themselves a chance.

Looks like Brighton also made a quick change at the break. Levi Samuels Colwill replaces Estupinan.

  18. 'Huge effort' required by Grimsby in second halfpublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

    HT: Brighton 1-0 Grimsby

    Stephen Kelly
Former Tottenham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Brighton could have had a couple more. Grimsby have put in a huge effort to try and contain them. Brighton look comfortable though; they haven't had to press themselves or get forward regularly. They've been biding their time, waiting for the chances to come along.

You'd think, in the second half, it's going to take a huge effort for Grimsby to get back in the game.

  19. Postpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

    HT: Brighton 1-0 Grimsby

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Grimsby recovered really well from that early blow. I feared a capitulation, but they composed themselves and stuck to the gameplan.

There are lots of positives; they've stayed in the game and shown good character. They can maybe take a few risks second half.

  20. 'There was only one thing we wanted Tommy to do'published at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

    Sheff Utd 3-2 Blackburn

    Sheffield United

More from Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom: "We think Tommy Doyle should have more goals for us than he has got, especially when he is playing in an advanced midfield role.

"He has got that strike in him, so when the ball fell to him there was only ever going to be one thing in his mind and only one thing we wanted him to do."

On balancing the FA Cup and Championship promotion push: "I am not even thinking about the semi-final now, but when it does comes around we will enjoy it.

"This season could be something really special for us. We have one box ticked now, but we have got the league campaign to think about as well.

"To be in with a chance of winning things at this stage of season is a huge achievement."
