    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Fulham have hit 11 crosses into the Manchester United box already.

Seeing these two sides and loads of balls going into the box at Old Trafford is giving me flashbacks of that time Manchester United broke the Premier League record for the most crosses in a Premier League game back in 2014.

There's an opportunity to send in cross number 12 of the game as Harry Maguire gives away a free kick, for which he is booked, but the set piece is played short and comes to nothing.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Despite their excellent start, it does feel like Fulham are in danger of getting caught by the counter and there's a chance for the hosts when Bruno Fernandes attacks down the right and crosses with Jadon Sancho his target but he overhits his delivery.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Andreas Pereira is the first player to be booked as he takes one for the team to stop a Manchester United counter.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Poor from Lisandro Martinez as he is brushed off the ball on the right by Harrison Reed, who gets into the box but his cross is deflected behind for another Fulham corner.

The initial delivery is cleared but Fulham keep it alive before Tim Ream bends an excellent ball behind the defence but no-one in a white shirt is there to stick out a boot and poke home.

It has been a really good quarter of an hour by the away side.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Aaron Wan-Bissaka clears a Fulham ball into the box and then Manchester United break through Marcus Rashford. Old Trafford roars as the forward surges up the pitch before finding Wout Weghorst on the edge of the Fulham box but he doesn't connect with his shot well and it rolls into Bernd Leno's gloves.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Wout Weghorst plays the ball forward with the aim of sending Marcus Rashford through a gap in the Fulham defence but Tim Ream reads the danger well to get across and clear.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

A Manchester United attack - their first of the game - is halted as Bruno Fernandes is down injured and the ball is kicked out of play so he can receive treatment.

  8. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Andreas Pereira drives into space and then passes to Aleksandar Mitrovic, who makes a dangerous diagonal run. Mitrovic flicks the ball into Willian's path but his first-time strike bends wide of goal.

It is still Fulham doing the attacking in these early stages.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

It has been a very bright start by Fulham and they are pushing up looking for the early goal. They have to be wary of Marcus Rashford, who is lurking and ready for any counter.

The start of the game was accompanied by the first 'Glazers Out' chant of the day.

The leading two known bidders, Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, received presentations from the club on Thursday and Friday.

It is still not entirely clear whether the Glazers will sell.

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Fulham have started this game brightly and David de Gea has to tip over Issa Diop's looping header.

Andreas Pereira sends the ball in from the corner, aiming for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who gets a little push from Luke Shaw as he tries to connect with the header. The away fans want a penalty, but VAR doesn't have a look at it.

  12. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Fulham

Fulham hit it long, looking to try and pick out Bobby De Cordova-Reid but Luke Shaw is there to hook away the danger. The away side keep up the early pressure as Scott McTominay puts the ball behind for a corner but Harry Maguire heads away the set-piece delivery powerfully.

I lost count of the number of times I spoke to Andreas Pereira on a Manchester United pre-season tour where he said this would be his breakthrough year.

It never happened and Erik ten Hag said on Friday there comes a point where it is time to take a step backwards in order to move forwards.

That is what Pereira has done at Fulham.

I think the Brazilian will be pretty determined today.

  15. 'It's been unbelievable'published at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

    FT: Brighton 5-0 Grimsby

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to BBC One: "It's what we were looking for. We obviously wanted to go to Wembley so we had to get to the semi-finals. It wasn’t an easy game because you have to break down teams like that who sit off."

On his first goal: "It was more an instinct, it just came to me and I tried to swivel around and get the best shot off. I was lucky it went in."

On enjoying his football this season: "It's been unbelievable, playing in my first season here. Credit to the lads, they've been good to me and have encouraged me when I've played."

On whether Brighton can continue making this season special: "I think so. We’ve got the hope and the desire to get to Europe so that’s our ambition and if we can keep on going and winning games we could get there."

Former Manchester United player and current Barcelona technical director Jordi Cruyff has explained how the 'Cruyff Foundation' ended up part funding a 3G pitch in Salford's Peel Park.

Salford was home to United's training ground when he joined the club in 1996. It is also home to the 'Class of 92's' Salford City.

The Cruyff Foundation pays particular attention to projects involving young people due to an experience Jordi's dad Johan had during the latter part of his career in the USA.

"My father saw a kid with Downs Syndrome," he said."There were a lot of kids playing but the boy couldn’t participate, so my dad started to play with him.

"Everyone saw what was happening and when my dad came back after a spell of away games, he went looking for the boy and saw he was playing with everyone.

"That is when the light went on to say 'sport unites'.

"From there he launched the Cruyff Foundation and it creates moments like this, when you see boys and girls here.

"It doesn’t matter what country you come from when you have a ball."

  19. Cruyff's backing for Ten Hagpublished at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2023

Man Utd v Fulham (16:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

The Cruyff Foundation and UA 92 have combined to help fund the creation of a 3G pitch at Peel Park in Salford.

Jordi Cruyff took time out from his day job as Barcelona's technical director to fly over for the formal opening, although he was not fit enough to take part in the first game on the new surface, which his old Manchester United team-mates Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt did take part in.

I asked Cruyff afterwards about the impact of fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag at United.

"I have only compliments for him," said Cruyff. "United have been waiting a long time to finally make that step to compete on the highest level again.

"He is connected. He came with clear ideas, no cutting corners. You play as a team, which is more important than the individual. He put his ideas forward, then you need a little bit of luck.

"He had a bad start and people are already super negative and impatient. But he turned it around and I think you see from the way United play and see results – I don’t want to talk about the Europa League!!!! – he has the team back on track."
