Wout Weghorst is a very awkward footballer, isn't he? Nothing looks simple. It's like he's got too much limb for him to deal with.

That chance at the end of the half looked a bit like someone throwing a step ladder at the ball.

It comes to Wout Weghorst by luck more than anything and he sticks a leg out to direct it onto the post.

It is a great save as Rui Silva just throws a hand up to keep the ball out.

That chance for United is the last act of a half in which the visitors have done what they had to - not give Betis any reason to believe they can pull of a miracle.

Oh, so, so close!

It's Wout Weghorst, in the mix for his second United goal, but despite his lengthy limbs he can't quite stretch far enough to make contact on a shot from Facundo Pellistri to steer it in.

The ball skips through a crowd and instead hits the post.

Betis survive.

United are certainly in a contest here. But they are doing enough to compete and keep the home side from getting their noses in front in the leg and rekindle their hope in the tie.

It is well defended. Harry Maguire realises the danger to make the block and then they are able to rally around.

He positions himself perfectly to stop Juanmi's effort from the edge of the block testing David de Gea.

Betis come again but once more United's defence stands firm.

Fine defensive work from Fred!

He spots the danger and tracks back to slide in and intercept a low cross from the left. Had he been a fraction late, Betis would have had a clear effort at goal.

Aitor Ruibal's run and touch are decent to get him into a decent position in field. The less said about his curling shot, the better.

Bruno Fernandes tries to curl a deep cross for Marcus Rashford, but there's a bit too much on it and the ball skips out of play.

Soon after, Facundo Pellistri's cross is plucked out of the air by home keeper Rui Silva.

Great timing of the run Juanmi and again David de Gea is quick to read it and makes the block.

Just a few signs that it is starting to get a bit heated. Tyrell Malacia flies in on Aitor Ruibal and fouls him. The same Betis player then shoves Marcus Rashford after he plays on following an offside flag.

Save!

It is an important one from David de Gea, who is quickly off his line to block Juanmi's shot after his darting run behind the Man Utd defence is found.

It is a really smart run, but the finish didn't match.

Facundo Pellistri is a bit unlucky here. His touch is heavy as he comes inside and he does lunge a bit to steer it back to a team-mate. He catches a Betis man in the process and the referee takes a stern view, booking him. Harsh.

David de Gea is called into action again but it is an easy bit of work, stretching to catch a deep cross.

Every Manchester United player is within the width of the Real Betis box when they attack.

That makes it so narrow and condensed. It is easier for Betis to defend.

Abner is done. He has failed to shake off that earlier injury and is replaced by Juan Miranda.

William Carvalho positions himself well to hammer the ball away from inside his own box as Tyrell Malacia pulls it back in search of a team-mate.

It is all Man Utd now. The ground is very quiet.

Marcus Rashford is flagged offside again. It is one of those where play is allowed to continue for an attack to end. The United attacker is muscled off the ball in the box and the flag goes up.
