Oooft, what an evening it's been.

Did I expect the night's main story to come from Bloomfield Road? No.

Blackpool's 6-1 demolition of QPR has breathed new life into their bid to stay in the league but they remain three points adrift of safety and have played a game more.

Third-placed Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke and second-placed Sheffield United can now extend their lead over third-placed Boro to six points with a win at Sunderland tomorrow.

Elsewhere, League One promotion hopefuls Wycombe claimed a 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers and Peterborough won a mad game 5-2 at Burton.

In League Two, Stevenage moved up to second with a narrow home win over Crewe.

    We'll be back tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Now that all the action is wrapped up it's time to look back over the headlines on a hectic night of EFL action.

Give this post a thumbs up if you're pleased with your team's showing this evening and down if you're not.

I assume most QPR fans left this page a long time ago to be fair...

How big could this be in the promotion shake-up?

A Boro win would have moved them to within one point of Sheffield United, who play at Sunderland tomorrow.

However, Ki-Jana Hoever levelled before the break after Chuba Akpom scored his 23rd of the season for Boro.

The Potters, who have put their struggles firmly behind them, had the better of it in the second half but it ends level.

    Blackpool 6-1 QPR

    Blackpool celebrateImage source, Getty Images

That's not a typo. Blackpool have won 6-1.

The Tangerines, who had scored six goals in the league in 2023 before tonight, took the lead through Jerry Yates' second minute penalty and things continued to get better from there on.

It was 4-1 at the break and Andy Lyons added his second shortly after the restart before Kenny Dougall rounded off the win in the final few minutes.

That's just a second league win since October for Blackpool but they're three points adrift of safety and this certainly gives them something to build on.

The positive for QPR is that they're still seven points above the bottom three but the negatives? Basically everything else.
