England were cruising but they just lost their way. I don't know if it was an energy thing but they just couldn't find it in the second half.

Italy improved but England just couldn't find a way through the press. The England players were out on their feet at the end.

A lot of criticism on here. Shaw's second booking was so soft and this season has been absolutely brutal. It's no wonder legs are going when most of these lads play every 3 days at the highest level

What a win for England. They made hard work of it. They were in complete control but didn't perform in the second half.

They were clinging on after the red card but managed to get through it.

There were some really good individual performances in the first half but the players disappeared in the second.

A solid if unspectacular three points for Northern Ireland as they beat the world's lowest ranked side.

It is however a memorable night for Bolton striker Dion Charles, who scored his first two international goals.

Michael O'Neill picks up three points in the first game of his second spell in charge of the national side.

When will they learn...time-wasting gets you nowhere! It's not game management, it's cheating and this is what happens! Foolish!

That is so petulant and stupid from Shaw. England have been so poor 2nd half. Southgate must be wondering where our energy has gone from 1st half

Such poor discipline from England. Embarrassing

    Dave

This is typical England when we go a goal ahead against a decent team. We drop deeper and deeper and deeper. The equaliser seems inevitable. We have to step out!

Jordan Pickford has to react to another shot and Marco Verratti almost tests him again from the edge of the box before the block comes in.

A good 10 minutes for Italy to find an equaliser. England are in danger of completely crumbling.

Gareth Southgate is getting ready to bring on Reece James and Conor Gallagher. Jude Bellingham is hobbling now too.

It's a tackle from behind and one that Shaw didn't win. It has been a sloppy second half and a sloppy couple of minutes for Luke Shaw.
