Little flick on by Kieffer Moore, he looks at Dan James on the left, they look at each other but they are just not on the same page.

Now Wales come forward through Dan James.

Harry Wilson is in space in the box but the cross is too strong.

Wales haven't utilised that diagonal pass.

You've got Dan James who can catch pigeons on one side and Harry Wilson who is quick enough on the other, I thought that is something they would have really worked on.

I've not seen it attempted yet.

This is the second game in European Championship qualifying Group D, with Turkey putting three points on the board earlier this evening.

They went behind in Armenia but came back to win 2-1.

Latvia are the one side in the group who are yet to play.

They start their campaign in Cardiff on Tuesday, when a home win will be the requirement for Wales regardless of what happens in the second half tonight.

Wales have not been poor they've just got a problem getting from that mid third in to the opponents final third and creating chances.

    Helen Ward
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

Something needs to change, there needs to be a bit more thought and process towards playing in the opposition half because at the moment the ball retention up there isn't good enough.

I would have settled for 1-0 at half-time because you are still in the game.

One little moment of quality and you are back level.

Wales have set up okay. They need to be a bit braver I think, a bit braver in possession.

    Helen Ward
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

I think with the amount of possession Croatia have had, and with Danny Ward making a couple of saves, I can see why Croatia might be disappointed not to be further ahead.

I think Wales will be frustrated to an extent. The goal they conceded was poor but they are still in the game.

Anything can happen in the second half.

  12. HALF-TIME - Croatia 1-0 Walespublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March 2023

Croatia lead, deservedly, at the break - but Wales are still in this.

Wales' problem has been that we are okay up to the halfway line, it's once we get beyond that.

Neco Williams does well initially, then overhits a pass which allows Andrej Kramaric to drive forward once more.

Luckily for Wales, the striker lifts his shot well over.

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

Harry Wilson takes the free-kick and it dips just over the bar.

It appears to take a deflection off the Croatian wall - but the officials don't notice.

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

Wales have a free-kick in a dangerous position.

Gareth Bale territory, you might say.

  17. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Croatia 1-0 Wales

The passing stats say Croatia have completed 270 compared to Wales' 94, which tells a story about this first half.

Wales have got to stay in the game, not do anything silly.

What I would like to see is Dan James or Harry Wilson trying to isolate Josip Juranovic, who is on a yellow card.

But they have to keep their shape. To go 2-0 down at this stage, it would be very difficult to come back from.

I'd like to see Harry Wilson and Dan James go and attack people on the outside and see what happens.

Mateo Kovacic comes forward again, leaving Wales scrambling as Borna Sosa cuts into the penalty area only to shoot tamely at Danny Ward.
