    Australia 0-1 Scotland

And just like that, Australia so nearly draw level.

Courtnee Vine latches on to a delightful lofted ball and almost pulls off the cheeky chip, but is denied by the crossbar and Scotland clear.

Her premature celebrations are quickly curtailed.

Aye, Scotland can continue their impressive performance. What a goal!

Left-back Nicola Docherty cuts in on her weaker foot and unleashes a ridiculous strike that comes off the inside of the post to completely bewilder Mackenzie Arnold in the Australia goal.

Docherty looks just as shocked as anyone. Who cares, Scotland lead!

Back at it in the London sunshine.

Both sides unchanged, but can Scotland continue their impressive performance?

I wonder who we'll see off the bench in the second half.

You'd imagine Rangers trio Brogan Hay, Rachel McLauchlan and Chelsea Cornet will all be strong contenders to make an impact. A noticeable lack of out-and-out strikers may hamper Scotland.

A good chance for Pedro Martinez Losa to assess his squad this afternoon.

Noticeable just how vocal Scotland manager Pedro Martinez Losa was on the touchline in that first half.

He can sense Scotland have a real chance of getting a result here against their storied opponents.

The Australian crowd have turned up in their numbers, and there is a real rise in the noise levels every time they go forward, but those moments have been few and far between as Scotland have more than matched the World Cup hosts.

  6. Sam Kerr v Sam Kerrpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2023

    HT: Australia 0-0 Scotland

Scotland's Sam Kerr has put in a strong showing in the first half, while Australia's Sam Kerr has watched from the bench.

We can all agree that if we don't get this in the second half it will be a travesty of the highest order.

How will I deal with it on the live text? Who knows! But I want to find out.

    HT: Australia 0-0 Scotland

I think it's fair to say that's a positive opening 45 mintues for Scotland.

It was a scrappy start, but the Scots grew into the game and had some good chances through Martha Thomas and debutant Emma Watson.

Pedro Martinez Losa will be asking for more of the same, with added killer instinct in the second period.

Scotland get forward again, allowing Emma Watson to loop in a cross from the right.

Real Madrid's Caroline Weir sees the chance for the spectacular and swings her foot for the volley, but the ball is headed away just before it can land on her boot.

He may be undefeated as Australia manager, but Tony Gustavsson is seeing his side under real pressure here.

Emma Watson could practically read the headlines there as more Scotland pressure gave her sight of goal in the box.

There's too many Australia bodies in the way this time, but it's clear the teenager isn't shying away on her international debut.

    Closer and closer!

This time, Rangers midfielder Sam Kerr tries her luck from just outside the box, but watches her effort fizz beyond the post.

Will Scotland live to regret missed chances again? It's been a theme of recent matches...

This is much better from Scotland.

Kirsty Hanson and Martha Thomas combine again, with the former finding the latter with a wicked first-time cross. Again, it's a tough one for Thomas to take, but she nearly busts out a ridiculous volley. Just wide.

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

    Scotland's first sight of goal!

It all comes from a crunching tackle from Emma Watson, with the ball finding Kirsty Hanson on the right, who slides in Martha Thomas.

The angle is acute for the striker, but her drilled strike forces a strong save from Mackenzie Arnold.

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

Emma Watson gets the chance to show some spark for just a moment as the Rangers midfielder drives through the middle and tries to get her side up the park.

The move breaks down, but it's a reminder of the talent Scotland have in the centre today.

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

Australia seem to be getting more confidence now.

They're knocking the ball around well, but are struggling to break through a rigid Scotland set-up.

  16. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

    How do Australia not score?

A neat free-kick is lobbed to the far post where Hayley Raso looks set to rattle the net, but she volleys it off her own team-mate and Scotland clear.

  17. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

Well, you can see why Australia were so delighted to have right-back Ellie Carpenter back in the side.

A surging run from the reigning European champion scares off the Scotland backline, eventually ending in an Aussie corner.

Mary Fowler lines one up from the edge of the box, but her effort is deflected behind.

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

Scrappy start to things in the Big Smoke. Maybe they're all just in awe of how lovely the Scotland strip is.

    Are we all big fans?

  19. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

As expected, It's Fiona Brown who slots into defence in the right-back position. Nicola Docherty is over at left-back, with Sophie Howard and Emma Mukandi in the middle.

Not Scotland's first choice back four, but you'd imagine they'll be tested plenty over the next 90 minutes.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Australia 0-0 Scotland

It's Scotland to get the ball rolling against the World Cup co-hosts.
