What an amazing start for the home side. They went straight at Livingston and were rewarded, eventually with the penalty decision.

Why oh why did it take so long for the decision to be made, though? On first view it was clear it came off De Lucas' arm. It took an absolute age for referee John Beaton to be called over for a view.

That just seemed so unnecessary. Not that St Mirren will care now. They look right up for this throwing in a number of dangerous crosses already.

Kevin Nisbet is free in the box and heads on target, but Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly pushes the ball over the bar.
