  1. 'We want to build momentum'published at 22:15 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

FT: West Ham 4-1 Gent (Agg: 5-2)

    West Ham United

West Ham striker Michail Antonio to BT Sport: "How it started off and how it ended, the boys are buzzing. You could see us oozing confidence in the second half.

"[David Moyes] just said we were playing well but a bit slack in defence [in the first half]. He told us to keep going forward. We did that and started pressing them. The chances dropped for us and we took them.

"Our plan is to get to the final. We want to build momentum to get there so winning games in the Premier League.

"We got some confidence from the game on Sunday and started off well. We went 1-0 down but we never give up. We will keep fighting and keep going. We were two goals down against the league leaders and came back and we were a goal down here but scored four. Semi-finals for two years running, we're buzzing.

"The feeling we got last year [losing the semi-final] was awful so hopefully we don't have to feel that again. We will go out there, give it our all and hopefully keep playing the way we are now."

Robin: Tonight's game just shows the lack of depth in the United squad but it also shows just far they have come from a few years ago, its a slow process & United will definitely get there in the end.

Sho: Another absolutely disgusting away performance. Brentford, City, Liverpool, Newcastle and now this. But still United fans refuse to accept the level of overhaul required with this squad. It's mad to me, absolutely mad.

Charlie: The lack of depth is striking when missing one player (Fernandes) means a team completely lacks creativity and potency. Would City struggle as much without KDB? No way! Despite progress this season Ten Hag still has his work cut out to compete at the top table.

FT: Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2)

Manchester United made two errors leading directly to an opposition goal for a second time this season. Since the start of last season, no Premier League player has made more errors leading to an opposition goal in all competitions than Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea (five, level with Tottenham's Hugo Lloris).

Complete self destruction tonight from Manchester United, pretty much gifted all the goals. With that performance, we need answers from the manager as to what we just witnessed. Sevilla played well, but United just didn't seem to want to bother. How many times can you give the ball away?

  5. 'There is very little that is positive about this'published at 22:08 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a sea of white and scarves, the party is about to start here. Manchester United haven't turned up tonight and haven't turned up as a team.

Some of them are going over to clap the fans, but there is not much clapping coming back to them. That really was such a poor performance, Sevilla have been hard working and Rakitic was a star man in there. They didn't have to work hard for their goals and it's been an absolute cruise for them.

They've got to forget this and go to Wembley [for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton] and remember the last time they played there which was a great victory for them from. There is very little that is positive about this and they did not turn up. There is no point analysing this as a team.

If you want to stay positive you've got to scratch it off as a really really bad night.

Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2)

It's Sevilla v Juventus in one of the semi-finals of the Europa League. And what a day it has been for Juventus, who got the 15 Serie A points back after an appeal after they had been penalised for false accounting.

Bayer Leverkusen will be in the other semi-final but wait to see who they face as the Roma v Feyenoord tie has gone to extra-time after Paulo Dybala's 89th-minute goal kept Roma and Jose Mourinho's side in the competition.

  7. Elsewhere in Europe...published at 22:06 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Juventus are through to the Europa League semi-finals, taking on Sevilla, after their 2-1 aggregate win over Sporting Lisbon.

Roma and Feyenoord have gone to extra-time with it locked at 2-2 on aggregate.

Bayer Leverkusen went through comfortable after beating Union Saint-Gilloise 5-2 across both legs.

In the Europa Conference League, Fiorentina join AZ Alkmaar and West Ham in the last four.

But Nice conceded an 86th goal against Basel so that's gone to extra-time with it balance at 3-3 on aggregate.

  8. 'We want to go one further'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

FT: West Ham 4-1 Gent (Agg: 5-2)

    West Ham United

West Ham captain Declan Rice speaking to BT Sport: "I can't put it into words. Another semi-final back-to-back. The place was rocking and you felt it. To score and the lads play really well, ah, it was a top night for the club.

"In the last couple of games we've not got off to the best start, waiting for teams to score to react. But when we got that goal we felt the buzz and the energy. In the second half it could have been six or seven.

"When I pick the ball up in those positions and have space to drive into I feel good. That's when I feel I'm at my best. It doesn't happen all the time. It definitely goes down as one of my best goals for West Ham. I didn't even know how to celebrate. I was just so happy to score, let alone it be like that, so it was special.

"We know AZ Alkmaar are a really technical side but bring it on. We want to go one further.

"There's obviously not been a lot for west ham fans to cheer for this season but they will be happy tonight and to put a smile on their faces is unbelievable."

Great scenes of celebration from the Sevilla players. They are bouncing, with their arms wrapped around each other, the home fans are responding by bouncing as one.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:58 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

West Ham 4-1 Gent (Agg: 5-2)

A massive win for West Ham and they are into the Europa Conference League semi-finals. A real boost as they distract themselves from a Premier League relegation fight. It is fully deserved too, a terrific second half.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2)

Manchester United are out of the Europa League after a horror night in Spain.

They were 2-0 up in the first leg, before being pegged back to 2-2 at Old Trafford. Yet they were still expected to advance.

But United have been absolutely terrible. Harry Maguire lost possession for the first goal, Sevilla headed in a second from a corner before David de Gea gifted the third goal. Two goals for Youssef En-Nesyri and one for Loic Bade.

United outplayed, embarrassed. Over and out.

    Roma 2-1 Feyenoord (Agg: 2-2)

Big goal for Roma! Paulo Dybala has scored in the 89th minute to draw them level again after Feyenoord had gone 2-1 up on aggregate through Igor Paixao. That Europa League match is heading for extra-time.

It's Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday so no time at all for Manchester United to sulk at this result.

Erik ten Hag will be demanding a response from this woefully poor showing.

Danny Ings sprays it across to Lucas Paqueta and he miscontrols it. It's been a mixed evening for the Brazilian and he shows some frustration, booting it against the advertising boards - only he misses and fires it into the West Ham fans. He gets a stern look from a man you probably wouldn't want to mess with... Good job they're winning.
