Manchester United manger Marc Skinner speaking to BBC Two: "It was a professional performance. We can now switch tack to a totally different game, a psychological game next week [the FA Cup final v Chelsea]. We know we can play and beat any team so we believe that, but actually now it’s figuring out what that looks like next week for us."

(On what impressed him today) "We dictated the first half today. We got a bit sloppy in the second half. A massive moment was the Mary Earps double save – massive, massive – because that shows the world-class quality she has. She does nothing for a lot of the game then comes up with that. It was nice to get Jayde Riviere on the field because she’s going to be a world-class talent going forward.

"I’m never happy, so the consistency in the second half needs to be improved because we can’t do that against Chelsea next week."

(On the title race) "The reality is we have to win our games. So we play Manchester City after Chelsea and we’ve got to win that game. We know what we’ve got to do. I’m pretty relaxed about it. I’m going to go home after this and until we play Manchester City I don’t need to think about the title race. We’ll stay focused on us and I won’t let anything deviate from that."

Manchester United

Manchester United striker Leah Galton speaking to BBC Two: "It was a good one today. Obviously the crowd did us a huge favour, you could hear them the whole game. Nearly 6,000 people here today so it's a special thanks to them."

(On her first goal) "We won it on a press so I just wanted to transition straight to goal and I hit it with the outside of my foot and it worked, so I'm happy with it. We take the result today and we train hard next week and we just focus on facing Chelsea [in the FA Cup final] now."

Manchester City's title hopes are on the rocks.

There is the first sight of goal for Khadija Shaw this afternoon. She's played in behind the Liverpool defence, the angle is tough but she still sends a low, left-footed drive just wide of the far post. Lovely attempt.

Lauren Hemp this time with the teasing, testing ball across the goalmouth but there's nobody there for the touch. Bunny Shaw has been kept very quiet so far...

Both sides will feel they should have made a break through by now, having created some promising opportunities.

Justine Vanhaevermaet breaks forward for Reading, a rare foray into Villa territory, after winning the ball in the centre circle.

However, a loose touch as she approaches the edge of the box allows Danielle Turner to take it off her.

Vanhaevermaet dives in trying to win it back and is earns the first booking of the game.
