    FT: Rotherham 1-2 Cardiff

    That's all from us tonight.

A wonderful Cedric Kipre strike means that Cardiff head back to Wales with all three points in the bag, and Championship football next season all but secured.

Rotherham are still very much in the conversation to go down, and host Middlesbrough on Monday as firm underdogs.

There's sure to be plenty more twists and turns in this relegation battle, but for now, ta-ra.

  2. Taylor's reaction to Rotherham defeatpublished at 22:29 British Summer Time 27 April 2023

    FT: Rotherham 1-2 Cardiff

Rotherham boss Matt Taylor has also been talking to Sky Sports:

"We've got to find a way to dust ourselves down for a massive game on Monday. We just couldn't quite handle their power at the top of the pitch, as the second half went on they pinned us in.

"We didn't get up the pitch enough in the second half. We've got to pick up three points [from the last two games], simple as that. Two bitter late blows that have gone against us. We've got to make sure that the bodies on the pitch on Monday are able to compete.

"There's anxiety with Rotherham no matter what. We've done fantastically well to give ourselves the opportunity to stay in this league."

  4. 'I'm so proud' - Lamouchipublished at 22:15 British Summer Time 27 April 2023

    FT: Rotherham 1-2 Cardiff

A very happy Sabri Lamouchi has been talking to Sky Sports post-match:

"We started the game not in a good way, but we scored after 10 minutes and created a lot.

"Unfortunately we conceded and gave them a chance to come back. We had a chance to kill them with the penalty, and the second half was a little bit better. We deserved the three points - I'm so happy for the players and for the fans as well. I'm so proud of the performance and the result.

"Without the [Sory] Kaba goals we probably would be in a different position. His impact has been massive for the team, even with the missed penalty."

  7. The Rotherham rollercoasterpublished at 22:05 British Summer Time 27 April 2023

    FT: Rotherham 1-2 Cardiff

Rotherham’s past six seasons have ended as follows:

    • 2016-17 - Relegation from the Championship
    • 2017-18 - Promotion from League One
    • 2018-19 - Relegation from the Championship
    • 2019-20 - Promotion from League One
    • 2020-21 - Relegation from the Championship
    • 2021-22 - Promotion from League One

Will they break that cycle in the coming weeks?

  8. How it stands after Cardiff's winpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 27 April 2023

    FT: Rotherham 1-2 Cardiff

Cardiff need one more point to be ABSOLUTELY sure of survival, but realistically they shouldn't need to worry about relegation for much longer. It would take a very strange set of results for them to drop into the bottom three from here.

As for Rotherham, it's all still in their hands. One win from their final two matches should be enough for them to survive.
