When Real Madrid go forward, they do put the ball in the box and look to score.

It's so deliberate from Dani Carvajal. That's a yellow card. The referee don't seem to want to get it out of his pocket. Maybe he has forgotten them.

Brilliant defending at the far post, it beat the goalkeeper and Dias just slides and clears it. Sloppy from Man City.

Rodri gives it away and Vinicius Junior flashes a dangerous low cross in from the left.

Karim Benzema is waiting for a tap-in but Ruben Dias slides in expertly to block it. Crucial defending!

This game is there to be won. Manchester City have got to put the ball in the box sometimes but they don't. They're not asking enough questions for the possession that they have had.

They need somebody to open the door and go past people. I would be looking at Riyad Mahrez at half-time.

Toni Kroos has time to pick out a pass but he underhits a long one over the top for Vinicius Junior and Kyle Walker can easily chest it down for Ederson.

Whistles inside the Bernabeu as City continue to knock it around with Real Madrid camped inside the area.

John Stones is brought down by Eduardo Camavinga on the edge of the box. City want a free-kick and they should have one.

Instead the referee plays advantage and they have to go backwards before Bernardo Silva's shot sails over the bar.

I think Guardiola will be disappointed in a way. He'll be pleased that they are controlling the game and have the ball basically all the time.

They are dominating possession but they haven't really created enough chances for all the ball they have had.

Man City have been excellent apart from the fact they are not creating enough.

This is what we were waiting for.

Real Madrid have been happy to soak up City's possession but they finally find some space and Rodrgyo drives straight into it.

He cuts in off the right, weaves past a few players and slips it through to Karim Benzema. He doesn't quite get there before Ederson.

Dan: It's all well and good us (City) having all this possession but we need to make it count with a few shots, then subsequently a vital goal or two. Still very confident, especially when Madrid are sitting back so deep. That counter attack of theirs is lethal when it wants to be though.

City move it across to the left and Jack Grealish carries it all the way to the edge of the box before chopping it back to Erling Haaland.

He's unmarked as he heads it back across goal but the angle is tight and it's comfortable for Thibaut Courtois.
