    Greenock Morton 0-0 Queen's Park

Morton have had three corners already but have made nothing of them.

Indeed, there are no goals in any of the 13 games being played this afternoon. Nerves are obviously the winner so far.

    Greenock Morton v Queen's Park (15:00)

Queen's Park will have to overcome history if they are to go top of the Championship in Greenock.

Not only have hosts Morton gone four games without defeat but they are unbeaten in all three meetings between the sides this season.

Indeed, Queen's Park have not won at Cappielow in nine visits since, wait for it, a 3-1 victory on 16 April 1962.

Despite sitting second, the present Spiders have also only won once in five outings and have gone three away games without a win or even a goal.

  8. Pyramid play-off semi-finalpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

The Spartans v Brechin City (15:00)

The Lowland League champions have won the latest two match-ups with their Highland counterparts, with Kelty and then Bonnyrigg Rose both winning their respective finals.

But this season's Pyramid play-off semi-final first leg at Ainslie Park between two sides who have never met before in competitive action has all the makings of a closely-fought cracker.

Spartans, who lost at this stage to Cove Rangers in 2018, won the Lowland League by two points from Rangers B after an impressive 19-game unbeaten run.

Visitors Brechin City, who are aiming to be the first side ever to have been promoted back to the SPFL after being relegated from League 2, edged out Buckie Thistle by the same margin to win the Highland League after a 10-game unbeaten run that culminated in four consecutive victories.

Spartans are themselves on a run of six straight home wins and are 14 unbeaten on their own patch since losing to East Kilbride way back in August, while Brechin are unbeaten in five on the road, winning the latest three.

  9. Another trio battle for survivalpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish League 2

Two points separate the bottom three in League 2 looking to avoid a Pyramid Play-off final against either Highland League winners Brechin City or Lowland League champions Spartans.

Bonnyrigg Rose have the momentum after three games unbeaten on the road, but today they visit a third-top Annan side who are themselves unbeaten at home in four.

Despite appointing a three-man interim team to replace manager Gavin Price earlier this month, Elgin still find themselves one off the bottom and today host second-top Dumbarton, who have recovered their form with three unbeaten games and who have not lost at Borough Briggs in their latest three visits.

Two wins in their last three games suggest Albion Rovers are capable of lifting themselves off the bottom, but they face a tough task away to promotion-chasing East Fife and could be confirmed in bottom place if results go against them today.

  10. Two play-off places to chasepublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish League 2

With Stirling Albion confirmed as champions and Dumbarton runners-up, four teams are looking to join the Sons in the League 1 play-offs.

Third-top Annan Athletic will fancy their chances of securing their place at home to relegation-threatened Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, while East Fife, three points behind, will be favourites as they entertain bottom side Albion Rovers.

Forfar Athletic are a further two points behind but face the daunting task of visiting champions who are unbeaten in 18 games and 10 at home - and are unbeaten in five meetings with Angus side.

Stenhousemuir need to win both their remaining games and hope East Fife and Forfar slip up today to retain a chance of finishing fourth.

Without a win in four, and at a venue where they have not won in nine visits since November 2015, they face a Stranraer side who beat Elgin City in their first game under new manager Steve Agnew - a week after he led East Fife to an 8-0 win over his new employers.

  11. New management, old problemspublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish League 1

Peterhead this week confirmed that, despite their precarious position, captain Jordon Brown and Ryan Strachan will continue as co-player-managers for the foreseeable future.

The pair have presided over only one win in six games since the sacking of David Robertson and must win their final two games and hope Clyde lose both theirs to produce a great escape and take their chances in the League 1 play-offs. Relegation could be confirmed today.

They visit Kelty Hearts' Central Park, where they have yet to win in two visits but with the hosts also in transition and the only side for whom today's games are meaningless.

Kelty had gone seven wins without victory when they announced that John Potter would be replaced with midfielder Michael Tidser as manager next season and they have had two more winless games since.

  12. Will Peterhead be relegated?published at 14:36 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish League 1

It has long since been a straight battle between Clyde and Peterhead for the bottom two spots.

The Bully Wee's four-game unbeaten run has established a five-point gap, but today they visit champions Dunfermline, who are 14 without loss themselves and who are unbeaten in all 21 home games across all competitions this season.

Indeed, the Pars have not lost to today's visitors in 13 meetings since September 2007 and Clyde have not won in 25 visits to East End Park since October 1972.

Ayr United v Raith Rovers (15:00)

A win is pretty much a necessity for Ayr as they try and propel themselves back into the promotion play-off positions.

They’re boosted by the return of talisman Josh Mullin to the starting line-up, while top scorer Dipo Akinyemi is chasing his 25th goal of the season.

Rovers can’t be promoted or relegated - and that’s probably just as well because they’re decimated by injuries and suspensions. Manager Ian Murray is only able to name two substitutes, with defender Greig Young their only outfield player on the bench.

  14. Six still eyeing promotionpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish League 1

With Dunfermline Athletic having won the title and automatic promotion last week, the focus at the top of League 1 is on who will be involved in the play-offs.

Scottish Cup semi-finalists Falkirk have secured their place by finishing second, Airdrieonians have such a superior goal difference that they are all but there too, but there are four other sides who can clinch the final spot.

Alloa Athletic, who are three points behind and therefore can still deny the Diamonds third place, host a Montrose side who must win both their final games and also hope today's visitors and Edinburgh lose on the final day to have a chance.

Similarly, Queen of the South must win today in Airdrie, then beat Kelty Hearts and hope for a 12-goal swing in their favour to stand a chance. Most unlikely.

  15. Three-way battle for survivalpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish Championship

Three teams are still involved in the battle to avoid relegation or a play-off to remain in the second tier.

Only one is involved today - Arbroath, who have such a superior goal difference over Hamilton that they have already effectively avoided automatic relegation.

However, they are now only two points clear of Cove and, lose or draw away to Partick Thistle, Dick Campbell's side will face a three-way battle on Friday to avoid the play-off spot.

A win for Arbroath, of course, will ensure Championship football next season.

    Scottish Championship

The title-chasing Spiders won't have it easy today.

Hosts Greenock Morton are down in sixth, but they still have a chance themselves of a Premiership play-off place.

While Morton can't catch today's visitors, Owen Coyle's Queen's Park still have three sides who can deny them a play-off spot.

Ayr United, who host Raith Rovers (the only team with nothing to play for), are a point ahead of Morton and two behind Partick Thistle, who host relegation-threatened Arbroath.

And all three are hoping to make up ground on Caley Thistle, who have played a game more and have just clinched that place in the Scottish Cup final.

  17. Title and play-offs still up for grabspublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish Championship

Dundee's draw at home to Cove last night has opened the door to title rivals Queen's Park once more.

Although it edged Gary Bowyer's side two points clear, the Spiders can climb above them with victory away to Greenock Morton today.

Whatever happens, the title will be decided at Queen's Park's temporary home at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview Park on Friday when Dundee are the visitors.

A tasty prospect - and one that will be shown live on the BBC Scotland channel.

  18. Every game is meaningfulpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish Championship, League 1 & League 2

Struggling Cove Rangers' surprise draw away to leaders Dundee last night means the Championship title race will go to the wire next Friday - live on the BBC Scotland channel.

Between that and Inverness Caledonian Thistle heading for the Scottish Cup final after beating Falkirk 3-0 at Hampden Park in the early kick-off, it means there are only 13 fixtures across the three lower leagues.

However, every single one is meaningful in some way for promotion and relegation. Such is the beauty - and tension - of these 10-team divisions.

  19. No Premiership - but plenty of intriguepublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 29 April 2023

    Scottish Championship, League 1 & League 2

There's no Premiership action with the top-tier returning after the split next week and with proper attention being given to this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-finals, but there's plenty to play for in the three lower SPFL divisions in the penultimate round of fixtures.

Lots could be settled this afternoon in all three leagues, and the first of this season's play-offs, so stay with us for the build-up, live updates and post-match reaction.
