  5. Let's hope they stocked up for tonightpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 2 May 2023

Let's hope the Turf is well stocked up this evening!

The pub was forced to shut its doors for the first time in 15 years after being "drunk dry" by Wrexham fans before their final home game of the season.

Wayne Jones said his pub outside Wrexham AFC's ground had 150 punters queueing nine hours before kick-off.

Mr Jones said an "emergency delivery" had to be ordered so he could reopen.

"They completely drank us dry. It was bonkers," said Mr Jones.

"We had probably 450 people outside, and god knows how many hundreds inside - we were up to capacity in both.

"We actually shut for the first time in 15 years that we've been here."

More from Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker.

The American owners' 'man on the ground' says he has already warned Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney owning a football club won't always be like this!

"Right now there’s such a positivity around the place so we’ve got to do everything we can to keep that going,

"But one of the first things I said to them was be prepared for the time when things aren’t going as well as they are, and we’re getting calls to get rid of this person or do x,y and z.

"We have to remain calm and weather those storms and move on to brighter skies after - because our ambitions are sky-high."

  15. It's Always Sunny in Wrexhampublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 2 May 2023

The cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have been among the famous visitors to Wrexham this season.

The cast watched as Wrexham beat Yeovil 3-0.

After the match, Rob McElhenny and co-stars Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson (McElhenny's wife) and Charlie Day served punters pints.

The Turf Hotel owner Wayne Jones said the stars "surprised" him as well as the fans.

Will Ferrell, David Beckham and the ageless (how does he look so good? he's 54 for goodness sake) Paul Rudd, have both also been in attendance this season.

Now that the title and promotion have been secured and the season is over, Wrexham co-captain Ben Tozer says the players have been looking forward to this open top bus parade and a chance to celebrate with their families.

Tozer and Luke Young lifted the National League trophy following the win over Boreham Wood 10 days ago, sparking joyous celebrations in the city.

The defender said Wrexham players celebrated the title and promotion with their Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney away from the spotlight.

This evening’s parade, Toxer said, was a chance for all ages – including players’ families – to share in the celebrations of a memorable season.

“It will be a bit more of a mellow day with the family. It will be nice for them to be able to enjoy it,” Tozer told BBC Sport Wales.

“After the game [against Boreham Wood] my wife and my kids had to go home so they couldn’t enjoy the celebrations and there the ones that go through the hardship throughout the year.

“For them to be able to enjoy it and soak it all in will be great.”
