The fans are so loyal that they are still backing their team, they're still here in big numbers, even though they are 4-0 down.

I hope the players can come out on the field and give their all.

I hope they can be inspired by the fans. If there is a miracle, it will be borne out of the support given tonight. It has happened in football.

They have to go direct, be forceful, and the ball has to be switched pretty quickly, and the crosses have to go in quickly.

It’s often said that pride comes before a fall, only in this case for Sheffield Wednesday the fall has happened, leaving surely only pride to play for.

Angry, frustrated, and bewildered fans have understandably questioned everything about the state of the club in the inquest that’s followed Friday’s 4-0 defeat at Peterborough.

Few would disagree with the view that significant changes are required and it remains to be seen whether manager Darren Moore will get the chance to make those changes. The case for and against is compelling.

That said, miracles can happen but, they are miracles for a reason.

  12. Peterborough players 'cannot be ordering suits'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 18 May 2023

Sheff Wed v Peterborough (20:00 BST)

    Francis Green
Ex-Peterborough forward on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

[Peterborough manager] Darren Ferguson doesn't want to give the impression to his players that the job is done - he has to tell them to do their job, and act as if it's a brand new game.

When you're leading a team, you've got to remember that people will following your lead. If he has any type of complacency, then the players' training will drop, and you can get caught out.

You can't be in a situation where the players are ordering suits... not that Posh would let the lads have them.

Having said that, if they don't get to Wembley, it will be a massive failure, and he'll know that.

How do you respond to a 4-0 deficit going into the second leg of a play-off semi-final?

If you're Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore, you press on and try to focus on overturning Peterborough's lead.

"We've dusted ourselves down, we've trained and we've refocused," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We have to try to win the game. We have had a fantastic home record all season.

"As we know, as the game goes on, football can have its own way and we'll see what happens."

If you think Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson believes his side will have it all their way once more against Sheffield Wednesday, think again.

Despite their commanding position, Ferguson does not believe tonight's second leg will be the same as the first.

The Scot told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "No two games are the same. This will be a totally different game.

"They will have 30-odd thousand fans there so it will be a totally different atmosphere, but we have got to blank all that out and play the game we want to play.

"We need to make it a game that suits us, not them."

The second leg of the first League One play-off semi-final has arrived.

Are we on the cusp of one of the greatest comebacks the play-offs have ever seen?

Or did the the first leg kill the excitement for the second?

Peterborough travel to Hillsborough in pole position to seal their place at Wembley on 29 May, having built a commanding 4-0 lead over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have home advantage as they look to overturn that deficit.

How's it going to play out? Stay tuned.
