Ben Hinchliffe is not being afforded a minute of peace in Stockport's goal right now.

This time Stephen Mallan has a crack from outside the area. Hinchliffe does well to contain the shot as it swerves a little on the way to goal.

Time stood still there and Matt Smith was the only one who reacted. He put himself in the right area and caused trouble for Stockport.

The forward does well to spin in the area to get an effort on goal after a deflected shot from Stephen Mallan fell kindly for him.

The free-kick is well defended, but the visitors are heaping pressure on.

Stockport defender Fraser Horsfall is the first to be cautioned.

He knew he would need to be all over Matt Smith today to try contain the Salford forward.

Horsfall's arms are all over the place and Smith gets one across the face.

It gifts Salford a free-kick in a dangerous area on the right.

He whips in a lovely cross from the left, but Conor Lemonleigh-Evans fails to reach it.

It's a positive start from the host and more aggressive than what they were in the first leg.

He does well to flick a dangerous low ball back across goal, and in doing so he is collected by a defender. There is no serious shout for a penalty, but he is looking a bit uncomfortable on the floor.

He eventually shakes it off and we are up and at it again.

You wish it was Matt Smith on the end of that cross. Callum Hendry is a good finisher and I think he will think he should have scored.

Salford have negotiated the first 10 minutes quite well, but they are quite deep and encouraging Stockport to come on to them.

Salford are one of just three sides to have scored more goals than Stockport in the regular season.

The Hatters, however, were at a bit of loss in front of goal in the first leg last week. They managed just one shot on target, and that came in the first 15 minutes.

They need their shooting boots on today if they are to claw things back.

So far, Salford are looking the more industrious of the two going forward.

There is certainly a buzz in the stands early on.

Salford are actually going for a club record fourth successive win away from home in the English Football League.

Amazingly, the three wins on the road to finish that regular season were all by a 3-2 scoreline.

Every team that has gone into the second leg of their play-off semi-final this week with a lead has seen it overtaken.

First it was Luton who overturned a 2-1 first-leg deficit to get past Sunderland in the Championship, then there was the comeback for the ages in League One as Sheffield Wednesday did the seemingly unthinkable at Hillsborough on Thursday and reached Wembley after losing the opening tie 4-0 at Peterborough.

Now, I’m not one to say Stockport will follow suit… I’m simply pointing out that comebacks are all the rage right now.

Salford City will, of course, have plenty to say about that. And so they shall when action gets under way in less than 10 minutes.

First up, we have Stockport County hosting Salford City.

The Ammies hold the advantage in this one after winning their first leg 1-0 at home.

Kick-off is less than 15 minutes away at Edgeley Park.

And after this, attention will turn further north as Carlisle United host Bradford, who travel to Brunton Park with a 1-0 advantage of their own.
