Some fans from other clubs have criticised the value of this so-called 'third rate' European competition. As a West Ham supporter of many decades, I can only admit to being very excited at the thought of reaching the final. Pretty nervous too!

Jordy Clasie's volley is blocked from the corner. AZ have the ball back at their feet and it's played over the top for Jesper Karlsson. He's offside anyway and can't quite bring the ball down. Warning sign.

Jesper Karlsson, on his return for AZ, gets off to a decent start, firing an effort which is deflected over the bar for a corner.

Early opportunity for Roma.
A long ball forward is knocked down by Tammy Abraham into the path of Lorenzo Pellegrini but the captain drags his effort wide from the edge of the area.

The Alkmaar fans are right on top of you here but that won't phase West Ham. It's a cracking atmosphere under the lights, it's a European night and all to play for.
I'll be interested to see how both teams approach the first five, ten minutes
AZ Alkmaar 0-0 West Ham (Agg: 1-2)
The atmosphere in the stadium is electric. There's officially 700 West Ham fans there but it looks like more. The home fans have got flares, drums and all the works.

AZ Alkmaar showed they are a team who will fight until the end with their quarter-final victory.
But West Ham have come from behind to beat FCSB, Silkeborg, Gent - and AZ in the first leg.

AZ Alkmaar v West Ham (Agg: 1-2, 20:00 BST)
AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen speaking to BT Sport: "Yeah we're confident but it's a big step to take tonight. Each and every player is very important for this squad.
"It's quite obvious - it's the set-pieces. We contained them for 60 minutes but then had two moments where we switched off on set-pieces and that's why we're 2-1 down.
"We were down 2-0 when we came back against Anderlecht and we managed to put things right so hopefully that's the case tonight."
AZ Alkmaar v West Ham (Agg: 1-2, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham boss David Moyes speaking to BT Sport: "I think we're all looking forward to the game. There's been a big build-up so hopefully we can go out and perform. I just felt that the players we are putting out there are the ones that can cause them problems. We think it's the best team to start.
"We're away from home so we don't need to be daft but I want us to score and go after them when we can. Hopefully we can be ready and match them when we need to. We won't change our style.
"We'll have to play much better than we did in the first leg. We missed a few opportunities that could have made the score easier for us. We know we'll be under pressure early on. We will need to deal with that and cope with that.
"Hopefully we're a bit more experienced, more prepared and we get a better result too."

I think this competition has defined David Moyes' season in terms of keeping his job. West Ham have been perilously close [to Premier League relegation]. They've pulled it around in the last couple of weeks. That big win against Manchester United put it to bed.
This is tangible progress that they have made. It's a step down from the Europa League but they could make a final. Last season was a semi-final, they have to make that progress. For Moyes as well as the team, it is something that can be defining.
AZ Alkmaar v West Ham (Agg: 1-2, 20:00 BST)
West Ham United
West Ham boss David Moyes: "You have to take every opportunity you've got to win every competition.
"I'm really enjoying what we're doing at the moment. We started in this competition in August - we're still in it and it's the middle of May.
"I hope the experience they've gained from last season will give them a bit of that.
"I genuinely feel that we have a group of really talented players, with experience, and some young players as well.
"It's a big game for us and we're fully aware of that."
Sevilla v Juventus (Agg: 1-1, 20:00 BST)
Juventus scored a 97th-minute equaliser last Thursday to leave their Europa League semi-final tie against Sevilla all level after the first leg.
It leaves the tie evenly poised going into tonight's game and Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has urged calm.
"When you're close to the finish line you want to get there straight away, but you need to remain calm, and the guys have shown this," said Allegri.
"We have all worked together to get here, and we have the opportunity to get to Budapest and reach another final.
"Sevilla are a strong team that played well in Turin. After the first goal we were a bit disjointed, but then we improved in the second half.
"We know that they will be backed by their fans, but we will be ready for anything."

West Ham have dealt as expected with the schedule - to remain in the Premier League and just need to draw to reach a first final, never mind a European Final - I would have taken that day 1 of the season, no problem..!
