  1. 'We have shown how adaptable we are'published at 10:07 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

More from Millie Bright on England's ability to adapt after losing players through injury and suspension: "It's difficult but it's football. As a player you understand that at any given time something could pop up and things could change. Football is never a given and whilst we would love everyone to be here it has been a great opportunity for other people to come in and step up and I think again we have shown how adaptable we are.

"But I think we are really blessed as a nation that we have such a big pool of players to choose from and so much talent.

"That shows the growth of the game, but it is down to the mentality and culture we have within the England set-up - I think it is unbelievable.

"But to have the mentality to adapt to change - that is football."

  2. 'As players we are always pushing for more'published at 10:05 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

England captain Millie Bright on correcting the history that saw women's football banned in England for almost 50 years - from 1921 to 1970: "It shows our strength and mentality. We never want that to happen again.

"It is something that we've been very open about and I don't think we would ever let that happen again with the people that are involved.

"As players, I think we are very open about how we feel and what we stand for and I would like to think the game has grown so much that never has to be a thing again.

"The fact we are now we sat here, that tomorrow is the World Cup final, is phenomenal.

"The growth of the game has been incredible. But for all the people that work behind closed doors that maybe don't always get the recognition, we absolutely appreciate everything that everyone does for the game.

"As players we don't want to stop here and are always pushing for more."

  3. 'We have everything we need to perform at the highest level'published at 10:04 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman on being in her happy place : "I feel privileged. I am very happy with the place I am in right now. There is a lot of support from the FA, from the board. I have a very good team of staff.

"We have everything we need to perform at the highest level and of course we have a very good team with very good players.

"It is a pleasure to work with these incredible people."

  4. 'Since Sarina has come in we have had a real shift in confidence'published at 10:03 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

England captain Millie Bright on what she admires most about head coach Sarina Wiegman: "I think the biggest thing is almost her love for football and the team.

"We express ourselves and have the confidence to do that. We don't fear making mistakes. That is the biggest thing.

"Football is a beautiful game, but I think when you play it a bit hesitantly maybe you don't see the best in people.

"Since Sarina has come in we have had a real shift in confidence, playing the style of football that we want to play.

"I would like to think all the fans have seen that. We have played some of our best football [under Wiegman] and everyone is just loving every single minute of it."

  5. Bright is 'very pragmatic and open to new things' - Wiegmanpublished at 10:02 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman oncaptain Millie Bright: "With Millie, of course, it is really nice to have her in your team because she is a very strong defender. But it is very nice to work with Millie too. Of course she is captain, so we can have some conversations, she is supportive of the team players, very pragmatic and open to new things, which is important. As I said, it is really nice to work with Millie but I also have 22 other players it is really nice to work with too."

  6. 'No words to describe' what it means to captain England - Brightpublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Spain v England (Sun, 11:00 BST)

    England

More from Millie Bright on what it means to captain England in a World Cup final: "It's massive, but it is massive for the team. It is always 'we before me', for me.

"No matter whether I have got the armband or not, it is always a huge privilege and an honour and I think it will be the biggest moment in our careers.

"I always say our careers, because it is a team. Nothing is individual, but it is obviously a dream come true to be in a World Cup final and to lead the girls out, there are no words to describe it. But ultimately it's the team."

Right then, while all that was going on England boss Sarina Wiegman and captain Millie Bright have been speaking to the press before they face Spain in the World Cup final tomorrow.

Let's see what they've had to say...

    HT: Sweden 1-0 Australia

An entertaining half with the two sides separated just by that Fridolina Rolfo penalty.

On balance Sweden probably deserve to be ahead but Australia have looked dangerous on the counter.

Sort of feels like Sweden are showing their experience having played in this third-place play-off match three times before.

A lot about this match is psychological with players having to pick themselves up from semi-final defeats and it looks like the Matildas may be struggling a bit with that.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 09:55 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Ah, the referee is just going to call it there.

A nasty collision to end that 45 minutes and we'll have to see if both players return to the field for the second half.

Both players are up and walking but will have to come off the pitch.

  11. Postpublished at 45+5 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Decent chance for Australia but as the cross comes in there's a big collision on the edge of the area.

It is a really nasty head clash between Caitlin Foord and Kosovare Asllani.

Cameras have just panned to Foord who already has a rather large bump on the side of her head. Asllani is still down and looks to be in some discomfort.

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

    Oh hello.

Bit of pushing and shoving between Katrina Gorry and Kosovare Asllani.

The Swede just shoved into the back of Gorry and then tempers just started to boil over. They both get a stern word from the referee and Australia have a free-kick.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 45+3 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Oh what a save from Mackenzie Arnold.

Sweden have a free-kick and Kosovare Asllani sends it in. Filipa Angeldahl somehow manages to get a really decent connection on it after a bit of a scramble in the box.

Arnold has to get down low to her left to save from close range and it was a crucial one. She shakes her head, she's not happy with her players.

  14. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

We'll have five minutes added on at the end of the opening period.

  15. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Australia have a corner and Steph Catley sends it in, good header away by Magda Eriksson but it falls to Kyra Cooney-Cross who lets fly and Zecira Musovic almost fumbles the ball but eventually collects.

  16. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Stina Blackstenius releases Fridolina Rolfo who cuts inside onto her right foot and goes for goal but it's a tame effort on her weaker foot and takes a big deflection.

  17. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Ooooh and now Filippa Angeldahl fancies a pop from range.

Just sails over the bar, though.

  18. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Good chance on the volley for Kosovare Asllani but it's straight into the gloves of Mackenzie Arnold.

The Matildas a bit under the cosh here.

  19. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Sweden 1-0 Australia

Sweden have a chance to break on the counter but Steph Catley makes a vital interception to stop it from going any further.

If they can sneak a goal before half time Australia will be happy. They do not want to concede another, here.

Sam Kerr is still looking frustrated about the penalty incident.

She's going to need to move on from that to find a way back into this.
