  1. Chance to 'achieve dream' - Alonsopublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

Celtic manager Fran Alonso says his team are not going to take a backwards step this afternoon.

"We are going to play out from the back, we are going to be aggressive as we always are, but you need to be brave to do that," he said.

"It's the possibility to achieve a dream. Hopefully we have something to celebrate because if we win we are in the Champions League, which is a massive achievement."

  2. Thomson seeks McLeish advicepublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10)

Speaking of those Helicopter Sunday comparisons, Rangers manager Malky Thomson has been picking up some advice from a man who knows all about last-gasp title victories.

Alex McLeish was the man in the Ibrox hotseat when his side wrestled the title from a stumbling Celtic on the final day of the 2004/05, and he's told Thomson that staying calm is key to getting over the line in this most high pressure of situations.

Thomson said: "Big Alex told me to keep a level head and deal with things in isolation, but we also need to have an eye or an ear on how many goals we need."

  3. Hayes at the heart for Celticpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

She's not the PFA Player of the Year for no reason.

Caitlin Hayes has been a true leader for Celtic this season. Not only has she been rock solid at the back, but she's also shown a knack for popping up with big goals at big times. Her late winner against Rangers sticks in the mind.

Perhaps the best player in the league for progressing the ball out of the back, her leadership will be vital in keeping her side's nerve on a huge day.

  4. Davidson to deliverpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Glasgow City v Celtic (16:10)

What a season it has been for Lauren Davidson.

The 21-year-old has 27 goals this season, comfortably the most in the division, as well as earning herself a place in Pedro Martinez Losa's Scotland squad.

The versatile midfielder supports the attack with drive and intent, as well as showing her composure from the penalty spot. She even bagged a hat-trick from the spot against Hamilton Accies earlier in the campaign.

Should the league leaders make it over the line today, don't be surprised if Davidson plays a big role in their triumph.

  5. European adventures up for grabspublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10) & Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

It's not just the SWPL1 title that's on the line this afternoon.

The top two will both secure their place in next season's Champions League, bringing not only the excitement of playing on the continent, but also lucrative fortunes that can be all the difference in title fights as tight as the one we've witnessed this year.

Celtic missed out last year, but if they and Rangers both win today, it'll be Glasgow City who watch from home after leading the division for most of the year. It's a cruel old game.

  6. FULL-TIME Spartans 2-0 Glasgow Womenpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

A sad season for Glasgow Women, who end the season without registering a solitary point.

Another solid campaign concludes for Spartans, who will have top-six aspirations next season.

  7. First title for Fran?published at 15:51 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

Away from the showdown in Govan, Celtic should have a simpler task as they welcome an injury-ravaged Hearts side to Parkhead.

Their technical prowess has shone through this season, as Fran Alonso's side have played some sublime football, while also digging in on the big occasions.

Celtic were the unlucky one of the big three to miss out on Champions League last season, and will be desperate to address that this campaign with a win today.

A bumper crowd is expected in the East End of Glasgow, but will their fans be celebrating a men's and women's league double come this evening?

  8. Will Rangers retain title?published at 15:49 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10)

They do say retaining a title is tougher than winning one. Rangers have certainly learned that lesson this season.

Having enjoyed a seven-point cushion en route to claiming their first ever SWPL1 championship last year, Malky Thomson's side are now firmly entrenched in a dogfight on the final day.

Aside from a 3-0 derby humbling against Celtic, Rangers have been consistent since the turn of the year, spurred on by Kirsty Howat's 14 goals in that period of time. Her hat-trick against Hearts last weekend helped her side leapfrog Celtic, and she may be needed this afternoon if the trophy is to keep its blue tassels.

  9. Can City return to summit?published at 15:46 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10)

Just a few years ago, the idea that Glasgow City could be the underdogs in any SWPL title fight would have been ridiculous. After celebrating 14 consecutive championships, the financial backing behind Celtic and reigning champions Rangers disrupted their dominance.

For so long this season, it looked as though they were cruising towards the title, keeping their rivals at arm's length with impressive results in the big games. That would all change with back-to-back defeats against the Old Firm in April, before another loss to Celtic in front of a record crowd earlier this month.

They'll need to find their bottle today if they're to reclaim their crown, though so many players in this side know what it takes to sit on the throne.

    Eilidh Austin

We're in for a frantic finish.

Eilidh Austin fires home for the visitors to bring the game level. As it stands, Accies are still heading for the relegation play-off, but another goal would see them leapfrog their opponents and condemn United to the pressure tie.

    Who will prevail?

  11. Rangers unchangedpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10)

Perhaps to be expected after winning 6-0 last time out...

Expect plenty of control in the middle of the park from Tessel Middag and Sam Kerr, while Kirsty Howat will be looking to continue her goalscoring exploits further up the park.

PFA Young Player of the Year Emma Watson, who made headlines for scoring a brace on her Hampden debut at just 17-years-old earlier this year, has to contend with a spot on the bench. Maybe she's knackered after just finishing up her Highers.

  12. Craig starts for Celtic; Hearts welcome back key starterspublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

Fran Alonso makes just one change to the Celtic line-up, with veteran Chloe Craig back among the starters. Young Tegan Bowie drops to the bench.

That's very good news considering Amy Gallacher went off injured last weekend but she's recovered to start. Once again, there are plenty of youngsters on the bench.

Eva Olid said she'd play plenty of youngsters today - but in fact, she has welcomed back more first-team regulars. Emma Brownlie, Ciara Grant and Georgia Timms are off the treatment table and into the starting line-up, with Charlotte Parker-Smith back in goal.

There's also room on the bench for regular starters Rebecca McAllister and Vyan Sampson.

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10)

The big news for Glasgow City is that Scotland number one Lee Gibson is back between the sticks.

Out the team last week for the late win against Partick Thistle, Gibson makies her return, which will be a big boost for a backline that will be met with a stern test against a bouyant Rangers.

Also back in the team is Anna Oscarsson and Emily Whelan, with Sophia Martin and Lisa Forrest dropping out.

A huge goal in the bottom half.

Danni McGinley steps up to the spot and dispatches her 17th goal of the season in this showdown between two sides threatened by the relegation play-off.

Accies need a win to avoid a showdown with the second-placed side in SWPL2.

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10) & Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

Right, let's try and make this as easy as possible, eh?

First thing's first, if Glasgow City win today, the title is theirs. Simple...

It's Rangers job to stop that from happening and they themselves will win the league as long as they beat City while bettering the result of Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Despite being in third, Celtic's chances remain strong. Should there be a draw at Ibrox, Fran Alonso's side need only beat Hearts to claim a first SWPL title.

If they better a Rangers win by more than two goals, they'll become champions on goal difference. Should the pair end up on identical goal difference - which would happen if Celtic better Rangers' result by just one goal - it would go to goals scored, which favours Celtic.

    Get it? Got it? Good.

    Rangers v Glasgow City (16:10) & Celtic v Hearts (16:10)

What a final day we have in store.

After a thrilling SWPL1 season, the title fight is about to enter its last chapter. Three teams can still lift the trophy this evening, but only one will be calling themselves champions in a few hours' time.

League leaders Glasgow City head to Ibrox to take on second-placed Rangers live on BBC Alba, while Celtic - who are two points off in third - welcome Hearts to Parkhead and that's live at the top of this page and on the iPlayer.

History awaits. Stick with us, strap in and let the drama unfold.
