Czech police have detained 16 people after West Ham fans were attacked by Fiorentina supporters before tonight's final.

Three people were injured in a bar in Rytirska Street, with police confirming an officer had also been attacked during the incident.

One West Ham fan, who did not want to be named, told PA News his friend was "quite badly" hurt with a "massive cut" on his head.

Sir Trevor Brooking also believes beating Fiorentina to secure Europa League football could be the catalyst for success next season after a difficult campaign in the Premier League.

"It will be fantastic if they win," he said. "I know the ups and downs of football but this would build on the disappointing season and have the club looking forward.

"It would enable them to sign more good players and, having finished the season well, I hope they are relaxed and ready."

West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking has urged the players to "soak up the experience" of tonight's final because "these moments don't come around very often".

Brooking appeared in the 1976 Cup Winners' Cup final when the Hammers were beaten by Anderlecht and says he is delighted to see his club competing in European football again.

"Everyone is chuffed because it is not as if West Ham are challenging every other season in Europe," he told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

"When we were last in there after winning the FA Cup in 1980, we had a really tough draw and went out. Since then we have never quite threatened.

"It has been such a long time and they will all be up for it. They should soak up these experiences and take them in."

Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds are the only two captains to lift trophies for West Ham. Would Declan Rice be worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as those two? I think he already is.

We all know and accept there is a good possibility he wont be at West Ham next season. We all understand where he is coming from. He is a fabulous player and he's only 24, so there is still a lot more to come from him.

If we see him lifting that trophy, everyone will be so pleased and delighted for him. He will deservedly go down in history as one of three captains to lift a trophy for West Ham."

However the final works out, it is likely to be Declan Rice's last game for West Ham.

Nine years after he joined them as a 14-year-old, following rejection by Chelsea, after 245 appearances - including this final - three club player of the year awards and a season as captain, Rice is ready to accept one of the many offers coming his way from some of the biggest clubs in the game.

Rice knows he can bow out a hero.

The only man to captain West Ham to victory in a European final is legendary World Cup winner Bobby Moore. The only other man to lead the Hammers to victory in any final is Billy Bonds, a defender whose status is seared into the club's history as one of their very best.

If West Ham can beat Fiorentina, that is the company Rice will deservedly take his place alongside.

West Ham boss David Moyes says the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina is the "biggest moment of my career".

Moyes has been a manager since 1998 and his main silverware has been the 1999-2000 third-tier title with Preston and 2013 Community Shield at Manchester United.

"Whether you're an experienced manager or a young one, sitting here for a final is the pinnacle," he said.

"Hopefully this is just the start for us. I'm enjoying this one and enjoying the moment with everybody."

    Scott Minto
Former Chelsea and West Ham defender

I travelled here last night and it was literally a plane full of West Ham fans!

Most of them didn't have a ticket but they're going to go to the fan parks. The Hammers fans could fill the stadium out tonight by themselves. The atmosphere will be fantastic.

How do I think it's going to go? I think it's going to be a very cagey game. It's a season where it's not been good in the Premier League but superb in Europe, and in the earlier part of the season the European form probably papered over the cracks.

And Declan Rice could make himself a hero on what could be his last game. These players could become legends.

West Ham came out two-and-a-half hours before kick-off to soak the atmosphere up.

Even then, there was a decent amount of fans in - and they made a lot of noise when their team appeared.

Declan Rice was singled out for one song, but there were others, including Said Benrahma's.

It could be quite a noisy night at the Eden Arena.

The Europa Conference League is very much in its infancy, with this only its second season in existence, but it was clear to see how much it meant to Roma fans last year and the same can be said for this edition.

West Ham take on Fiorentina in Prague, with both sides looking to end a long absence of European glory, and excitement has been building all week.

It's not long until the game gets under way with kick off at 20:00 BST.

It has been a long time since West Ham tasted glory in a major European tournament, 58 years to be exact.

That was back in 1965, when they beat 1860 Munich in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup at Wembley.

That success, and the legendary Hammers trio of Martin Peters, Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst who helped achieve it, has been immortalised in a statue outside their stadium.

Now, thousands of West Ham fans have descended on Prague hoping to see new heroes made as West Ham look to claim European glory once again.
