Ollie Watkins is yet to score for Aston Villa this season in the Premier League and he had just nine touches in that first half.
He had the best chance of the game too, aside from Moussa Diaby's disallowed goal, when he was denied by Sam Johnstone.

Anonymous: There was no conclusive evidence - it looks like it *may* be out from one angle, and looks clearly in from the other - VAR with yet more abysmal input - how do the FA and PGMOL continue to get it so wrong!
JB: The whole point of VAR was to correct clear and obvious errors. If in serious doubt then the attacking side should always be given the benefit of doubt. So far this season it has been the complete opposite apart from the Ake goal that didn't even need VAR to see that was offside. Officiating in this country needs a complete rehaul.
Steve: Can we go back to the pre-VAR days please, as it's more frustrating than the old school system!

There are periods in this game where Manchester United seem to be going nowhere, then they create something almost from nothing.
Marcus Rashford's shot deflected against the bar, Rasmus Hojlund's effort disallowed because the ball was marginally out of play before the cross.
The home side are still in this game - they need a bit of luck.
Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace
An intriguing first half all over at Villa Park. The hosts have been the better team on the whole and had a goal disallowed. Palace grew into it and finished fairly strongly.
Tottenham 0-0 Sheffield Utd
Goalless at half-time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. One-way stuff for the home side, but no goals to show for their promising display.
Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace
Moussa Diaby's strike is blocked by Chris Richards. There's appeals for handball, it's looked at by VAR, and quickly waved away.
Man Utd 0-1 Brighton
Brighton lead at the break, with Manchester United having a goal ruled out.
Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace
Silly booking for Nicolo Zaniolo. He wants a throw-in, it's given the other way and Zaniolo then throws the ball in the opposite direction.
Referee Darren England isn't afraid to show a yellow for poor discipline. He gave Eberechi Eze a card earlier for his attempts to get someone booked, and now Zaniolo is punished for throwing the ball away.
Man Utd 0-1 Brighton
Rasmus Hojlund goes down under a challenge from last-man Lewis Dunk, but the Dane was offside, so no big calls are needed.
Moments later Bruno Fernandes cynically chops down Simon Adingra and is shown a yellow.
West Ham 1-0 Man City
Applause from the home fans as their side take a 1-0 lead into the break against the defending champions.
Fulham 0-0 Luton
Goalless at the break.
Tottenham 0-0 Sheffield Utd
Tottenham can't do much with their free-kick in a promising position as the ball is eventually shipped to Dejan Kulusevski who smashes it beyond the far post.
Man Utd 0-1 Brighton
All Manchester United but still no equaliser. Marcus Rashford brings the ball down and cuts inside, but his curling effort flies off target.
West Ham 1-0 Man City
Jeremy Doku has caused West Ham problems on the left and he puts another good ball into a dangerous area but the Hammers clear.
Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace
Lucas Digne slides it through to Ollie Watkins but Chris Richards, again, comes across to make a crucial tackle. The American defender has been excellent so far.
Tottenham 0-0 Sheffield Utd
Chaos at the back as Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham handles the ball outside of the area while under pressure from Dejan Kulusevski.
Tottenham, win a wide free-kick on the edge of the box. Foderingham is shown a yellow.
Fulham 0-0 Luton
Another quick break by Luton and they win a free kick in a decent position as Jacob Brown is fouled.
Amari'i Bell sends the ball in but hits it too long for his team-mates. Wasted opportunity.

Paul: Ward-Prowse has got to be one of the signings of the season already. When you look at what he cost compared to what Utd and Arsenal paid for Mount and Havertz then he’s an absolute bargain.
Matty: I'm sat in the Olympic Park having a picnic. The eruption from the London Stadium when that goal went in made people jump even a mile away.
Man Utd 0-1 Brighton
Brighton stay in front!
Shades of Japan against Spain in the World Cup, was the ball over the byeline as Marcus Rashford cut it back to Rasmus Hojlund?
It's close, very close and one we will be talking about for quite some time.
No goal!
