It's all a bit flat. England don't look as threatening as we know they can be. Rachel Daly has had a few chances but hasn't been clinical. Other than that, there's not much to shout about. It looks like a team who haven't played a match for a few weeks.

The WSL season ended several weeks ago and there is a bit of rustiness on display as far as the Lionesses are concerned.

England are having to play a bit wider and at times more direct to open up this Portugal defence.

You've got to take your chances.

Rachel Daly is getting herself into some useful positions but it's just not happening for her - or her team-mates - so far. The effort is there to see but nothing is falling for them. Frustrating.

Plenty of eyes will be on England as European champions, but all eyes will be on the current World Champions USA.

England wouldn't meet them, because of the draw, until the final.

Jessica Silva is another one to watch at the World Cup. The Portuguese forward is making England's defence work.

The visitors have come back into this and are building confidence.

Nice work by Tatiana Pinto around the England box and the Lionesses defence, for a fleeting moment, is stretched.

Alex Greenwood has an enormous amount of very good qualities. She is more than happy to step into midfield.

She brings a balance to this team as well. She combines beautifully with Lauren Hemp so there's certainly no shortage of qualities down this left side for England.

Ella Toone isn't quite firing at her maximum levels. She spots an opening outside the box but her finish is tame and wide.

Lauren James is really starting to show her quality. She's gliding past players and that was an excellent ball in for Rachel Daly. Every time James has it at her feet there's excitement rippling through the stands. She's so unpredictable.

Lauren James pings a gorgeous ball into the box but a stretching Rachel Daly narrowly fails to connect. Any sort of contact and that would have been in the back of the net.

Portugal are a hard-working unit. They're going to need to maintain these concentration levels in New Zealand, where they face defending world champions the United States and 2019 runners-up the Netherlands.

Lauren Hemp goes down just outside the Portugal box and the referee waves play on but the Lionesses cannot make it count. That prompts another burst from a trumpet in the crowd.

I feel nervous, more because of the relationships and partnerships. It takes time to build understanding as centre-backs but I'm sure Sarina [has a reason for it].

Lauren James is going to be huge for England at the World Cup and the Chelsea forward is on the charge before losing possession.

It's a joy to see her in full flow.

It's been a steady start by England who are dominating possession.

A hush from the crowd as Portugal win themselves a free-kick just outside the England box. Sarina Wiegman is not impressed with the decision and is out of her seat.

A strong start by England. Lauren Hemp almost gifted Rachel Daly a huge boost in her hopes to retain the number nine shirt over Alessia Russo. Another goal to add to her already impressive tally this year would do that.

It's a great start from England. Portugal struggle to track runners and if England can continue to to exploit that space, it could get ugly for Portugal.
