'Physicality' is almost a banned word given the events of the abandoned Colombia friendly last week, but things are starting to heat up a bit with several heavy challenges coming in from both sides.

It's fair to say the Irish support didn't agree with the decision to book O'Sullivan there, which may have been for a bit of back chat.

Denise O'Sullivan is booked, although I'm not quite sure what for as it came after a Sinead Farrelly foul. O'Sullivan looks a bit perplexed too.

Courtney Brosnan has done well, shown her willingness to come for crosses and set pieces.

She could have handled some a bit better perhaps, but her decision- making and distribution has been excellent.

She's been decisive and calm. A very good half so far for the Irish keeper.

Five minutes to go until the break and while it has probably been a frustrating first half for Australia, the Republic of Ireland will feel very happy with how their World Cup debut is going so far.

It's hard to see what happened there to Katie McCabe, an awkward landing maybe?

But it has given the Ireland players a chance to come over to receive fresh instructions from Vera Pauw.

Australia had been building up a head of steam before that stoppage.

Coach Tony Gustavsson will have to keep his team patient even if the crowd start getting restless. It may take until deep into the second half for Australia to crack open their opponents.

There's always a 'hold your breath' moment whenever Katie McCabe goes down.

She's as tough as they come, so when she is down you know she is hurt.

It'll take a lot more than that to force her off on this historic night.

We saw both of these sides create a lot of chances in their build ups to the tournament.

But at the moment we are just waiting for that finishing touch.

A few gasps from the crowd as Cortnee Vine plays a superb through ball into the box for Caitlin Foord to run onto. Foord takes the shot first time but the angle is tight and she puts it into the sidenetting.

Momentum is just shifting a little bit more in Australia's favour.

Ireland had been enjoying a spell of possession but now it seems like the home side are getting numbers forward and pressing on.

The Republic have done a good job of dealing with balls sent into the box. They have fended off five corners so far and now clear a long Ellie Carpenter throw.

The referee is just keeping an eye on that battle between McCabe and Raso.

Wow. Both teams just going end to end.

Frustration for the Republic as Kyra Carusa is suddenly away in space down the left. Australia fans are fuming as they want a free kick but are cheering moments later as Carusa cuts inside and then passes straight to an opponent on the edge of the box.

It's so far, so good for the underdogs, who are holding firm despite an increasing amount of Australian pressure.

That Hayley Raso chance was a bit of a let-off, though, and the Republic will have to be careful that they don't give chances away like that too often.

A chance for Australia - their first big one of the game as - Steph Catley sends corner number five to the far post where Hayley Raso rises but nods wide.
