Captain Wendie Renard headed a late winner as France beat Brazil in a thrilling game in Brisbane at the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup.
Eugenie le Sommer put the French ahead after 17 minutes, before Debinha pulled Brazil level in the second half.
But Renard - who had been an injury doubt - headed in the decisive goal with seven minutes to go.
There was end to end action as two of the pre-tournament favourites delivered a game which lived up to expectations.
Brazil would have qualified for the last 16 with victory but instead must wait until the final matchday to try to book a spot.
Pia Sundhage's side meet Jamaica in their final group match, while France take on Panama. Both games will be played on 2 August, kicking off at 11.00 BST.

France had an improved performance.
Brazil took far too long to get going, until the second half.
They dominated the second half and obviously the goal from Wendie Renard killed their momentum.

France go top and a win over Panama would take France through as group winners.
Brazil are second, but could end the day third if Jamaica beat Panama in the next match.

As soon as Brazil made it 1-1, it was end-to-end football.
France showed that bit more composure and we've spoken previosuly about how set pieces are.
The likes of Wendie Renard, you just cannot leave her alone in that box.

I wanted a better performance in the technique and the possession of the ball which didn't happen but in the end we won and this is what is important.

Herve Renard was absolutely livid at the award of that late free-kick and had to be restrained by his coaching staff.
He was screaming at everyone in the vicinity, including Pia Sundhage who looked like she gave a bit back.
At the end, he refused initially to shake hands with the Brazil staff, before eventually going to briefly do the courtesies.

French players fall to their knees as the bench runs onto the pitch. That was a monumental effort.
In contrast, the Brazilians look dejected as the full-time whistle blows.
You wouldn't think it's only the second round of matches with those reactions, but that feels like a big, big win for this French side.

France have edged it. Brilliant first goal, the second one was one that you could have pre-empted and Brazil could have prevented.
France 2-1 Brazil
Wendie Renard's late header, left unmarked from a right-wing corner, is the winning goal and takes France top of Group F.
The French had gone ahead through Eugenie le Sommer, before the other number nine, Debinha, made it 1-1.
But Renard's goal is decisive. Excellent game, France win it.
The free-kick is swung in, Brazil can't get a shot away and France clear their lines.
France manager Herve Renard says time is up. Not yet, Herve...
They win a free-kick on the right. This is it for Brazil now. The delivery from close to the right touchline has to be good...
One last chance for Brazil?
France 2-1 Brazil
Time is running out for Brazil. They need a goal and need it now.
France 2-1 Brazil
Selma Bacha tries a snapshot from 30 yards and it is nowhere near goal, but wastes a few more seconds for the French.
France 2-1 Brazil
The ball is in the corner, the complete opposite end to where Brazil need it.

The seven minutes of additional time were met by a combination of support and groans in the ground, depending on where your allegiances lie.
