Lauren Hemp crosses in to danger, Jill Roord strikes from the edge of the box and Zecira Musovic parries it out before Millie Bright whacks it away for a Man City corner which is eventually cleared.

West Ham look dangerous every time they go forward, while Brighton are looking a little sluggish.

Lee Guem-Min is played through on goal, but the South Korean forward can't hold her run and the assistant referee blows for offside.

Both managers this week have been outspoken about the number of games the teams play each season, with Emma Hayes calling for an expansion of the league.

Because of the nature of the league as it is at the moment, these matches pro-rata, three points, are all the more important, they could make the difference in a title race.

Here we go.

The players are wearing black armbands in honour of Manchester City legend Francis Lee who passed away last Monday and held a minute's silence.

Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw scored 20 WSL goals for Man City last season while Sam Kerr bagged 12 for the Blues.

Very decent firepower to introduce into a game of this magnitude.

A yellow card each for Brighton's Maria Thorisdottir and West Ham's Riko Ueki, although I'm not sure why the Japan forward has been carded there.

She was brought down by Thorisdottir, who rightly gets shown yellow for stopping the counter-attack.

The teams are walking out, we're minutes from kick-off at the Joie Stadium.

Manchester City

Chelsea

"We are going to have to use our experience, particularly in the first part of the game, and I know we have players that can come from the bench and make a difference."

Ooh, Mackenzie Arnold makes sure West Ham keep their lead. A brilliant stop from the Australia goalkeeper as she palms away a fierce strike from Elisabeth Terland.

• Chelsea have won one of their 10 away games against Manchester City in the Women’s Super League (D5 L4), defeating them 4-0 in November 2021. Their return of 0.8 points-per-game away to Manchester City is their worst against any club in the WSL.
• Manchester City are currently unbeaten in 19 home games in the Women’s Super League (W16 D3) since losing against Chelsea in November 2021. They have scored 61 goals in those games, an average of 3.2 per game.
• Manchester City have won seven of their last eight Women’s Super League matches against London clubs, only failing to defeat Arsenal during this period (1-2 in April). They have won four consecutive home games against such sides.
• Sam Kerr has been directly involved in nine goals across her last nine away games in the WSL (six goals, three assists), while the Australian has also netted twice in four total away games against Manchester City in the competition.

Not quite the start Brighton had against Everton last week. They were 2-0 up at this point.

The Seagulls have a corner, but it's overhit and Elisabeth Terland heads it out for a goal-kick.

Both Jill Roord and Mia Fishel were on target on their debuts for their new clubs as the WSL season got underway last Sunday.

Roord was on target as City beat West Ham 2-0 and Fishel scored in a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Both start again today.

This is the sort of fixture the biggest players want to score in, can they replicate their performances from last weekend?

There's been a few questions asked as to why England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is not in the Manchester City squad.

She was sent off against Manchester United in the penultimate game of last season so this could be the third of her three-game suspension.

But she was named on the bench in last weekend's win over West Ham which has caused confusion.

City have told BBC Sport's Vicki Sparks she has been left out as "rotation". We'll have to ask Gareth Taylor afterwards...
