    Luton 0-1 West Ham

Another Luton set-piece causes havoc with the criminal offence of letting the ball bounce inside the area being committed...

West Ham counter well but Luton react well to defend strongly.

  2. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Luton 0-1 West Ham

A corner looks like being Luton's best route to goal. Ross Barkley's delivery is good again, it's nodded on and Tahith Chong knees it wide from close range. Fine margins.

  3. Strong at home, great awaypublished at 43 mins

    Luton 0-1 West Ham

There's a lot of chants about his home life but Jarrod Bowen is the first player to score in each of West Ham's opening three away games of a Premier League campaign. He failed to score in his 19 PL away appearances last season.

Wow what a ball, no wonder Man City wanted Paqueta, that was like watching De Bruyne.

Ryan Giles, where have you been all my life? What an absolute dream of a cross again from the left, Carlton Morris has a tough header but drifts it onto the top of the net. It's a good effort.

West Ham possession stats are a bit different to the Brighton game.

It's been coming. West Ham started to gain control and had a couple of half chances when they could have done better and that is a wonderful, wonderful ball from Paqueta.

Shocking goalkeeping. It was regulation stuff really.

Luton react well, Elijah Adebayo curling over from an angle.

Real patient play and it is the most sumptuous cross from Lucas Paqueta. That's a really tough one to take for Luton.

  10. goal

Well there is a shot on target and that's the opening goal! Luton are pulled from side to side by some lovely football, Lucas Paqueta floats over a beauty of a cross and Jarrod Bowen heads in at the back post.

Ah, seeing it again it's horrible from Luton keeper Thomas Kaminski. It was straight at him.

This is now the longest we've had to wait for a shot on target in a Premier League game this season. Edson Alvarez nearly has one but his shot is charged down by three Luton players!

    Gutsy.

Building 45 new terraced houses will add a bit to the budget Carl but...I'm not saying I don't like it as an idea.

I keep saying to recreate the away entrance at the new ground. It'd be brilliant.

Good feet from Carlton Morris and Ross Barkley, it just threatened to open up for a moment but then the chance was gone. It's such a narrow window in the Premier League and the former England man needed to shoot through it.

  15. 'Luton are swinging'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 1 September 2023

    Luton 0-0 West Ham

    Aaron Paul
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

West Ham are the year 12s, they are trying to show Luton how to knock the ball around and how to play in the Premier League.

But Luton Town are swinging. They are creating opportunities.

    Luton are punching, they're swinging.

West Ham are trying to be a little bit more patient but you always feel that Luton can create something. It is a really intriguing contest here.

No shots on target yet but plenty to keep you entertained. Said Benrahma does well to jink into the Luton area but Marvelous Nakamba tracks him all the way to put it out for a corner. Benrahma then volleys a shot well wide from the corner.

  18. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Luton 0-0 West Ham

One for Fantasy fans, only Brighton's Pervis Estupinan (18) has attempted more crosses in open play than Ryan Giles (17) this season in the Premier League.

At the other end Jarrod Bowen has a swing and fires wide from long range. Worth a dig.

Alfie Doughty, and then Ross Barkley, deliver two excellent corners and from the second one Mads Andersen heads wide. More than a half chance that for the hosts.

I wish Luton weren’t building a new stadium I love the history and quirkiness of Kenilworth Road.
