    James McFadden
Former Scotland forward on BBC Sportscene

I think the game petering out for Hibs is fine.

It's not been a great night for them. Everyone knew how tough a task this was going to be and it's lived up to that.

Villa have shown real quality without really clicking into gear.

    That just sums it up.

Youan gets a neat ball played into him on the far left of the Villa half. He has all the space in the world to run into, instead, he runs the ball clean out of play for a goal kick while under no pressure at all.

    Aye...

  5. 'A difficult night for Hibs'published at 79 mins

    Hibernian 0-5 Aston Villa

    John Collins
Former Hibs manager on BBC Sportsound

Aston Villa move the ball around well in tight situations, they trust each other, players are marked but they still give it to them.

  6. '5-0 is job done'published at 78 mins

    Hibernian 0-5 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC WM 95.6

Having chased the ball for so long, they can’t get near Aston Villa.

As manager you want no thrills, do what you’ve worked on in training. Five-nil to Aston Villa, you’ve got to say, job done.

  7. CLOSE!published at 76 mins

    Hibernian 0-5 Aston Villa

Lewis Stevenson almost sticks the ball in his own net after a John McGinn dummy to a cross causes panic.

    Villa aren't done yet.

It's a penalty kick all day long.

I got caught out too, I thought Traore was going to pull the trigger. It's excellent skill.

    No danger.

Substitute Bertrand Traore is on the park for just a couple of minutes before he's tripped by Lewis Stevenson.

Up steps Douglas Luiz who steers the ball into Marshall's right while sending the former Scotland keeper the wrong way.

Villa have just been in absolute cruise control. For Hibs' sake, I hope they stay at the level they're at.

From kick-off, the visitors have just managed the game. They've decided when they're going to up the tempo.

Hibs haven't been able to deal with it, and that's not a criticism, it's just levels. This isn't just a step up, it's several steps up to face a team with the quality of Aston Villa, and a manager of the success that Unai Emery has had.

    Hibernian 0-4 Aston Villa

Former Hibs manager on BBC Sportsound

The move starts all the way with the goalkeeper, they're sucking Hibs players towards them to create the space.

    It's intelligent football.

  14. CLOSE!published at 60 mins

    Hibernian 0-4 Aston Villa

    Diaby this time goes close.

All sorts of issues are being caused down that Villa left with the ball reaching Diaby in the middle. Hibs do just enough to block the shot out for a corner, with Konsa nodding just over.

You get the feeling Villa aren't done here...

Your thoughts - Hibs fans may want to look away now...published at 53 mins

    Hibernian 0-4 Aston Villa

It's not been pretty viewing from a Hibs perspective:

Kevin: The score could be embarrassing at this rate, I don't think we've played too badly but we simply can't defend.

Scott: Have the Hibs team been told not to close Digne down, believing that they could handle the crosses coming in, or are they just that slow to close him down?

Niels: What do people expect? Aston Villa are from another planet. We can’t compete with a top side in Europe. Nor can other Scottish teams for that matter. Still, MON HIBS!

    Phil: Get Steve Archibald on.

Villa fans are having a more enjoyable evening, it's fair to say:

Chris: Fielding effectively our first XI shows the intent. Pleased we got an early goal to avoid what could have been a very tricky tie - have created a chance to rest some players in the second half.

Robbie: Was expecting more from a Hibs side with home advantage but clinical from Villa so far.

Joe: Only half time but looks like we’ll be a force in Europe this season! (Currently at my own wedding and watching game on phone!) UTV.

Rudolf: Such is the poor standard of the SPL Villa could have sent their reserves and still got a result. Can't see any way at all for Hibs to get back into this tie.

It's a devastating attack again. Watkins held his run and it's a nice, cool finish.

Villa look like they've got so many gears to go up, even when Hibs have started the second half well.
