    Sunderland 0-4 Middlesbrough

Into five minutes of time added on.

Boro fans would welcome 50 minutes.

Sunderland fans, those who haven't left yet, wish the referee had blown time on this some time ago.

    Marcus Forss

Middlesbrough hit 10-man Sunderland for four!

Emile Latte Lath is played in in the inside left for Boro and his firm shot is parried out by Anthony Patterson for Marcus Forss to tap in a fourth.

This game has really hinged on that red card for Dan Neil just before the break.

The Sunderland midfielder was given his marching orders for dissent, having been booked earlier in the half.

It had been pretty tight in the first 45 minutes, with the away side shading it but the home side having had the best chance through Patrick Roberts.

The second half has been a total procession as Michael Carrick's men have played perfectly against the 10 men.

Four wins on the bounce for his side now after a sticky start to the season.

  4. Oxford United double leadpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 7 October 2023

    Oxford United 2-0 Bristol Rovers

Oxford United are going top of League One... at least until 5pm anyway!

Sam Long has just put them 2-0 up on 81 minutes with a header from a corner.

Bristol Rovers are also down to 10 men following Jevani Brown's red card earlier in the half so there'll be no coming back in this one - especially against a side with the meanest defence in the division.

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

Sunderland still having a go as they look for a consolation.

Nice play down their left ends with a cross being hung back for Patrick Roberts and his shot deflects wide.

    Corner comes to nothing.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 82 mins

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

Final sub for the away side.

Lukas Engel is off and Alex Bangura is on.

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Chance for the home side.

Nazariy Rusyn hits a firm low shot at Seny Dieng's near post and the Boro keeper, who has had nothing to do this half, shows he has kept his concentration up by getting down well to keep it out.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 76 mins

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Good management.

Nazariy Rusyn comes on for Jack Clarke after the Sunderland forward is booked for dissent.

This game is over, no point leaving seven-goal Clarke on if he might get a second yellow.

Nearly 4-0 as Emile Latte Lath charges forward and smashes a fierce effort over the bar from 20 yards.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 74 mins

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

Sam Greenwood, who got Boro's first, and Isaiah Jones, who got their third and has been man of the match for me, are off.

On come Marcus Forss and Sammy Silvera.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 7 October 2023

    Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbrough

Sunderland forward Jack Clarke was booked for dissent after that third Boro goal.

It's a very young Sunderland team and this is a chastening afternoon for them.

They just need to dig in and make sure it doesn't get worse.

GOAL: Sunderland 0-3 Middlesbroughpublished at 72 mins

    Isaiah Jones

I said he was having himself a day and now he has himself a goal!

Isaiah Jones has had a superb second half and he wraps up the three points with his side's third goal.

Morgan Rogers plays him in as he marauds forward down the right.

He shows brilliant composure to step inside a Sunderland challenge and then coolly slot home with his left foot.

    Game over.

Latest: Oxford United 1-0 Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers' chances of getting back into the game at the Kassam Stadium have just been made even more difficult after Jevani Brown was given a second yellow card.

25 minutes remain for the visitors to find something, or Oxford United are heading top of League One.

    Sunderland 0-2 Middlesbrough

It's looking distinctly like it's going to be four straight wins for Middlesbrough in the league now after they failed to win any of their first seven.

Michael Carrick was shown patience by the Boro board and he is repaying that.

On the pitch, Isaiah Jones is causing more chaos for the home defence.
