Simon Gleave, head of analysis, Nielsen Gracenote: "Manchester United's first matchday defeat against Group A favourites Bayern Munich hasn't had much effect on their chances of progressing to the Champions League knockout phase.

"Our Euro Club Index, external estimates that United's probability of reaching the last-16 has reduced from 83% to 78%.

"A win in this evening's match against the group's third best team Galatasary is crucial to keeping the Red Devils on track though."

Wilfried Zaha has scored twice at Old Trafford - but never in front of fans.

His goals both came for Crystal Palace in a Premier League encounter with Manchester United in September 2020, when the stadium was still closed to supporters due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He said last night the game didn't mean much to him. I think it will be a bit special if he finds the net this evening.

If anyone knows what it takes to win the Champions League, it is Manchester United defender Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman managed it four times with Real Madrid.

On the face of it, United's start to the season - four Premier League defeats in seven games and a 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich in their opening Champions League game - doesn't offer much hope for optimism.

    But Varane is confident.

“Yes, I think so," he said, when asked if United can win the tournament. "I think the quality is in the squad.

“The competition is difficult. You have to take care of every detail, but we have a team with quality, with a good mentality and we have to make some improvements.

“It’s not the start of the season we expected but I still believe we have enough quality to compete with the best teams in the world."

French side Lens held Sevilla to a 1-1 draw in Spain as they played in their first Champions League match in 20 years.

It was a strong start to their Champions League campaign but tonight will be an even tougher test against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

Lens do have a strong home record in the competiton though and they come into the match off the back of a 1-0 win away at Strasbourg last Friday.

Napoli v Real Madrid (20:00 BST), FC Copenhagen v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)

Real Madrid travel to Napoli for their second game of the Champions League campaign. Jude Bellingham grabbed three points for Madrid in the opening game of the Champions League as they beat Union Berlin, a simple tap-in from the Englishman helped Madrid get off to a winning start.

Naples has been hit with an earthquake yesterday, but authorities have ruled the game is safe to go ahead. Napoli also have three points on the board in Group C after they beat Braga 2-1.

Harry Kane's Bayern Munich are in strong scoring form since their win over Manchester United, a total of 13 goals in three games with the Englishman scoring four.

Bayern Munich travel to FC Copenhagen this evening and the hosts will be disappointed with their opening game draw to Galatasaray. Copenhagen conceded two goals in two minutes and only came away with a point.

There was two-and-a-half hours to kick off when I walked past the entrance to the players' tunnel at Old Trafford tonight.

There were plenty of Galatasaray fans waiting for their team and they were making quite a racket.

Wilfried Zaha said last night he hadn't warned his team-mates what to expect this evening because they play in front of their own fans every week and they are some of the noisiest around.

Having seen Galatasaray on a few occasions, I can vouch for that.

Arsenal have lost just one of their 14 away games against French sides in all competitions.

Lens have scored at least once in each of their last 33 home games in all European competitions (78 goals), starting this run against Arsenal in the group stages of the Champions League in 1998-99.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last nine group games in the competition.

Gabriel Jesus has been involved in 15 goals in his last 15 Champions League starts, scoring 12 and assisting three.

'Bothered at all? No.' - Zaha on time at Manchester United

Galatasaray forward Wilfried Zaha says he was not willing to let his difficult spell at Manchester United derail his career.

Zaha joined United in 2013 but only made four appearances for the club, while he was twice sent out on loan.

The former Crystal Palace player, 30, faces United in the Champions League and was asked if his time at Old Trafford bothers him.

"I'll be honest, when you look at my face do you think I am bothered at all? No," Zaha said.

"I went through a phase in my career, you either build from it or die. It built my character. I was determined not to let my career die out."
