Curtis Jones is found on the left before cutting inside and firing a shot that loops up off a Union boot, clears the keeper but also the crossbar, landing on the roof of the net.

A much better header than his last one and Diego Carlos forces a save this time. His attempt from the rebound is saved too.

Villa are miles on top now.

The Liverpool lead looks pretty comfortable in light of how little threat Union are carrying, but the Reds will want that second sooner rather than later to put this to bed.

Villa fans won't be happy but that is the right decision in my opinion. That would have been incredibly harsh.

Villa fans are booing away but it was the right decision.

The penalty is correctly overturned. Villa's chance to score is gone.

Maybe even off his face. The referee is still thinking about it.

This might get overturned. It actually hits the defender's chest first and maybe bounces onto the arm.

He is normally very good in the air and he gets up early. It looked good but I think it was a simple enough save.

Anthony Moris goes some way to making amends for his error for the Liverpool goal with a fine one-handed stop to deny Diogo Jota.

The Liverpool forward had risen well to meet Alexis Mac Allister's chipped cross into the box.

The signs are good though, it's been a better start to this second half for Villa. Those changes might put Zrinjski on the back foot.

Villa look a lot better for bringing on their best players.

What a chance! You've got to hit the target from there.

Diego Carlos has yet to score for Villa and he might be waiting for a while with finishing like this. Ollie Watkins swings in a cross and Carlos, with a free header, sends it towards the corner flag.

Oh, almost a big error from Alisson!

He comes out to punch the corner but doesn't make full contact and sends it spinning back to his own goal. He is lucky that Jarell Quansah is alert to hack the ball away from the Reds goal.

It is really nice to see the [Mac Allister] boys play [each other].

Jurgen Klopp has seen in the first 45 minutes and feels comfortable now at 1-0 up to take off Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez and stop them getting injured.
