Khiara Keating has got bags of talent. I'd love to play with a keeper like that because she is brilliant with her feet.

She is going to get exposed to so many different problems at this level. It is exciting to see what the future holds for her.

  3. 'It is a brilliant start to the season for us'published at 19:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor speaking on BBC Two: "First thing it was tough when you play a team like Leicester who went player for player, to play our normal flowing game. I felt we could have been three or four up at half time. We had so many good opportunities.

"Neither team had many attempts in the second half but in the last 15 minutes we have to be a little more ruthless but it gives me a buzz that the players were so determined to get a clean sheet and that win. It is a brilliant start to the season for us.

"There are still areas I want to see improve. I though Khiara Keating was really calm today and we want her to be less busy and we could have made it more comfortable. I've been in these situations and previously it might have been a different story.

"We know the WSL is not easy. The margins are so tight. As much as it's a good result there are still things we can improve on.

"When you play the so called other contenders it is important you take as many points as you can and that has shaped the title race each season. We block the season off and I think it was important we finished off with a win [before the international break].

  4. 'I don't think little Leicester are so little any more'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Willie Kirk speaking on BBC Two: "We showed a lot of resilience to stay in it. I thought we were good and you can see the disappointment of the players and that probably shows you how far we have travelled on this journey so far.

"The fact Man City took the ball in to the corner to run time down when they could is a compliment to us. I don't think little Leicester are so little any more. We have made a bit of a statement in this opening four games.

"We were very open and planned for that. One thing the players have been this year is comfortable being uncomfortable but we were half a yard off being excellent which we sorted in the second half with a little tactical adjustment.

"I don't think you will see the best of us until the second half of the season, so the fact we have seven points, we can be happy and there's a lot more to come from this team."

    Full quotes to come.

  6. 'Man City's next three games will show WSL title credentials'published at 19:20 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC Two

That is something that Leicester will be able to build on. In the next performances they will feel they can challenge the top three with that sort of brave performance and it is something they can take with them.

Manchester City lacked a ruthlessness the final third.

I think Manchester City's next three games with them playing Arsenal and Manchester United will give us a better indication of if they can go and challenge for the WSL title.

  7. 'Man City were the better team'published at 19:16 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC Two

I think Manchester City were the better team and they could have finished it off in the first 20 minutes but I think Leicester will come away the happier.

  8. 'Both managers will be happy in their own ways'published at 19:15 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Gilly Flaherty
Former England defender on BBC Two

As the game went on Manchester City were running the ball towards the corner to just get the result.

Leicester were lucky in the first 25 minutes to not fall three or four goals behind and in their own ways I think both managers will be happy.

For me Catherine Bott is the player of the match. She has given a great defensive performance in a back three, covering her teammates and helping them out.

Leicester will just be hoping for one more chance to try and nick a point.

If Leicester can reproduce this performance that they are giving against Manchester City, they should get results against other teams.

They will take confidence from this game tonight.
